The Hammer of God | Bo Giertz
Pickpick

Very good read. Combined from three novellas, this novel was very well written. Learning different doctrinal points through the basis of a book and viewing the learning experience of the different curates was enthralling. While one may say they would never do such a thing as the curates, it's easy to see where they went wrong and how we too could fall into the trap. From liberalism to legalism to orthodox, Giertz certainly captivates his audience.

#BibleBuddyRead
I kept with the starting Sat reading so I start d Numbers today.
I found this diagram of the clans of Israel to be helpful. As I was reading I added in # of people and where the Levites we're stationed.

cwarnier As many times as I have read the Bible I must have been oblivious to the controversy over the number of Israelites and or how they took the census then. I ended up reading the intro and all of the notes in my Bible, which I usually skim or Skipp over. And I still want to do more reading on this topic. 2y

Thank you for the book and the nice chocolates (not pictured because they are in the process of being consumed - rapidly!). I will definitely enjoy them! #JolabokaflodSwap #Litsy

It's finals crunch time, my health is barely holding together between eye strain, migraine, and fibromyalgia, and it's been 63 days since my last in-person class. But one way or another, in 11 days I will be finished with my first year of graduate school!

Spent some quality time with the Book of Concord today, in part while enjoying a YouTube livestream (previously recorded) from the Seattle Symphony. 😊 Made it through Day 3 of the shelter-in-place order. ✅ And I'm starting to really enjoy my time with the Book of Concord! 👍 #shelterinplace #socialdistancing

The Bay Area has been ordered to shelter-in-place starting at midnight. (Unclear how exactly it will be enforced, but apparently it will be enforced by local police departments.) Today was stressful, but I'm feeling much better now and just focusing on getting my schoolwork done for classes tomorrow. I'm in love with my gray highlighter + pencil notes in margins aesthetic with my BoC. 😍 #socialdistancing #shelterinplace

LiteraryinLawrence You‘ve got this. Your grey highlighter is so soothing! 4y
nelehelen Fellow Bay Area litten here! Sending you lots of support and positive vibes via Litsy as we go through this lockdown. ♥️ 4y

jewright I love the grey highlighter! School is cancelled here, so we are staying home. This whole thing feels so surreal. (edited) 4y
Graciouswarriorprincess Sending hugs! My youngest son lives in that area so concerned mom here. But he is safe and has been working from home for two weeks now. 4y

The Book of Concord would not have been my first choice for evening reading, as theological texts from the 1500s are not my absolute favorite thing, but on the whole I love my classes, love hot chocolate, and love being a full-time student who curls up to study books each evening! 💕

Emilymdxn Sounds like a great evening to me! Medieval theology was my main jam in university and I miss it, C11-15 was my fave and you‘re making me nostalgic 4y
Caterina @Emilymdxn Ooo very cool! I'm Lutheran, so this is my required semester diving into the Book of Concord and Lutheran theology. It's fun, but I find myself more excited by Biblical studies/criticism and by modern theologies like womanist theologies, liberation theologies, and ecofeminist theologies. 😊 4y
NerdyRev I am an ELCA Lutheran pastor in NYS! Happy BoC reading! 4y
Caterina @NerdyRev Wow, what a small world!! I'm a first year at PLTS, going through candidacy for word and service in the NC synod. Haha, thank you, I'm hoping I learn to love the BoC 😂😅 4y
