Fourth in the delightful Nevermoor series. This is my favourite book series for children since Harry Potter. It is well-paced, not too predictable and full of interesting characters and world building. I am not sure how many books are proposed, but we are invested in Morrigan and her companions.
In this instalment, Morrigan meets her mother‘s family and is introduced to the snobbery of the Silver District.
Just browsed through Goodreads‘ list of upcoming/new releases and have now added 4 more books to my library holds (and 7 others to my Goodreads TBR). 😬😍 Anticipating a new Thursday Murder Club makes me super happy, and I‘m SO EXCITED the new Morrigan Crow is finally being released! It‘s been so long I may need to re-read the first three…

This has the fast-paced adventure of a western but with much more depth of character.
This is Alaska at 11p 😜
A pair of sisters support their ailing father in a world where magicians are consigned into the service of the king. When the younger sister starts showing signs of magical abilities, choices must be made, but the threat of war is not the only danger magicians face.
Paulsen, creator of Garlic and the Vampire, has a style all her own, bold and consistently strong. The story is exciting and well paced.
This book explores the eternal question “What would life at sea be like with your family?” While also being a brutally honest (but not unkind) exploration of being a tween and realizing that you don‘t necessarily have much in common with your friends, you might not even like each other.
My #BookSpin and #Doublespin are both middle grade books I'm looking forward to this month!

Megan E. Freeman's book Alone is one of my favorite MG reads. I was so excited when I found out she had a companion novel. While Away was a good read, and I couldn't pinpoint anything wrong with it, it just wasn't as good as Alone. I didn't connect with the character as much and found myself a little bored at times.
I‘m enjoyed this companion to “Alone”, but I have to say I liked Aline more. As that focused on a singular character, this was split between 4 POVs, all told in either verse, news article style, or like a script which was a little distracting and couldn‘t get as close to the characters. The story is good though, and I‘m glad to see what happened to everyone who “disappeared “ in Alone.
