“It wasn‘t like one of those scenes in a movie, where the princess floats lightly into the waiting hero‘s arms. I was more like an anvil that comes plummeting down on a cartoon character‘s head. I fell, like a graceful barbell, right on top of Neel.”

😆 made me chuckle.

The Unteachables | Gordon Korman

As a middle school teacher I really appreciate the fact that a great author like Gordon Korman went out of his way to write about a burnt out teacher handling a class of wild and crazy kids. Thank you for the dedication Mr. Korman! #middlegradebooks #readingteacher #teacherlife

Johanna414 I‘m reading this to my 6th grade book club right now and they‘re loving it! 2mo

This was a cute little tale about a courageous elf who figures out that the world can be so much more than it is. I loved the variety of characters and overall fast-paced storyline that makes this a great read for middle schoolers and more.
Available in Pixie Forest Publishing's April kids book box

Has anyone else read (and enjoyed!) Aru Shah and the End of Time? I was thrilled to pass it along to my eleven year old, an avid reader of all things Percy Jackson (and, consequently, all things mythological).

Roller Girl | Victoria Jamieson

Roller Girl is a fabulous, tough, empathetic, middle-grade, graphic novel—I eagerly passed it on to my 11-year-old niece (but only after my 11-year-old son devoured it twice and I had my turn!).

These two books have absolutely nothing in common, except...I finished both yesterday, they‘re both great, and they both brought me to tears on multiple occasions. I read The One-in-a-Million Boy, a beautifully written novel, for my book club and have SO many quotations marked! House Arrest, a YA/middle-grade novel in verse, is the journal of a boy that details the year after he steals a wallet. (I stayed up waaayy too late finishing this one!)
