Squid Game - Can not wait for season 2. Binged the entire thing with josh in a week. I was not llowed to watch it without him.

A book somewhat similar would be #Murdertrending.

BTW - there was a which character are you quiz - Josh was 001 (old man), and I was Front Man!

Looking for help! I‘m buying books for my nephews in 8th & 11th grade & want to give one of them this series. Which age would it be best for? I read it years ago & don‘t remember. And any suggestions for the other nephew? I haven‘t seen them since last Christmas & I‘m having a hard time figuring out what they are interested in lately.

LibrarianRyan Tell me a little more about them. This I‘d say either. It‘s a cusp novel. Some other good series started to think about: 8th grade slays by Brewer (vampires are coming back in). Teen Killer club for the 11th. #murdertrending (11). Being that it‘s a new Prime series maybe Stormbreaker by Horowitz. The books start 8th grade okay but age as the teens age. For either age Illuminae. It looks HUGe but it‘s a fast read. 3y
LibrarianRyan You could go classic like The Book of 3 which is the first book of the Pridyan Chronicles (the black cauldron) by Alexander. Or do modern Fantasy with Redwall by Jacques. Both would be fine for either. 3y
LibrarianRyan For your 11th Escape from the furnace. Fantasy about a prison for teens. It‘s modern but feels a but feels a bit steam punk and also a bit like the first GI joe move. But I LOvE it!!! If they like movie monsters there is Dept 19. It has a new world war take on classic monsters like Frankenstein. You could go for Eragon by Paolini. He wrote it when he was 15. Either age appropriate but a bit dense if they are not a reader. 3y

LibrarianRyan The Amulet of Samarkand. It‘s book 1 of the Bartemaus trilogy. Then there‘s the Secrets of the immortal Nicolas Flamel. They have new editions with eye catching covers in stores now. If they like playing fantasy video games try Rangers Apprentice. But be sure to start with the first series. Revenge of the witch was a great movie turned into a horror or movie (seventh son uggghh). 3y
LibrarianRyan For the 11th grade I would also probably suggest classic fantasy like Dune, iRobot, Do Androids Deam of Electric Sleep, or even HG wells or Lovecraft. 3y
LibrarianRyan Okay, I‘ll stop now. If those don‘t sound get kit me up with more info on the boys and I‘ll do a new list. 3y
Valink @LibrarianRyan thank you for all the suggestions! I was so stuck so I‘m glad I have somethings to look into. The 8th grader is such a sweet mush. Into football, cooking, saxophone & building things. I often get him activity books that we can do a project or two from together on Christmas, but I think he‘s out of that phase. The 11th is tougher. Into rap with tons of cursing and recently started weightlifting. Both a little immature for their ages (edited) 3y
Valink @LibrarianRyan this was what my son was in to when he was in HS, though the only one he read was electric sheep. I may get him a few books too. He loved Ray Bradbury so he would often pick his books for road trip audiobooks but I really didn‘t like the narrator he used, so that ruined the books for me! (Currently in his second year of college and reads a mix of graphic novels and very dense books) 3y

Signal has been convicted a of the brutal murder of her best friend Rose. She has now been designated Class A the most dangerous criminal profile you can be given. When she is given the option to avoid prison and go into a secret program for teen Class A‘s Signal takes the chance. But she has no idea that she is now a part of a teen killers club. This book reminded me a lot of #murdertrending. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!

4.5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

FulThis book is about more than blood and guts. There is a true mystery, and a love triangle that keeps the story moving. Plus lots of blood and guts for those of us that like it. In a way it reminds me of #Murdertrending and Clown in a Cornfield while at the same time being completely different. This book was so much bloody fun I am highly disappointed I have to wait for the next one.l Review on GR, LT and TSG.

I think this novel holds promise, despite my qualms with it. It wasn‘t the fun read I‘d anticipated, but it held my attention all the way through and offered gratification with its twists.

LibrarianRyan Really. I did this one on audio and I loved it. I wasn't in to the love triangle so much, but I am ready for the sequel already. It reminded me alot of #Murdertrending and Clown In A Cornfield. But I did listen to it so that could have gave it a helping hand. 3y
abookishbutterfly @LibrarianRyan I listened to the audiobook, too. I‘m glad you enjoyed it. The world would be boring if we all had the same perspective on books! 3y
LibrarianRyan Cool beans. I haven‘t written mine yet. But I will soon. 3y

I‘m planning on spending the whole weekend binge-reading for my duties on the Rainbow Book List Committee. I‘m starting off the morning with this mystery/thriller, #noescape. It‘s the latest in the #murdertrending series - but it‘s actually a prequel! I haven‘t read the other two books, but this stands on its own just fine.

LibrarianRyan This was quite fun. I agree it stands on its own and you don‘t need to read the first two. But you should. #murdertrending is such gory fun. 4y
