A Christmas Journey | Anne Perry
post image

#BookReport
Say Nothing: #nonfiction Goal was 25 pages; read 8
A Christmas Journey: #audiobook:finished. Different than what I expected, themes of the power of words to wound, redemption, & the oppressiveness of English upper class social mores at the time.
Guidebook to Murder: #Mysteryoftheweek: exceeded goal; approx an hour left.
A Noel killing: #HoludayCheer: just started, ph. 29,not projected half way through novel.

Cinfhen I‘ve put Say Nothing in hibernation / I think I need to switch to print 4y
kspenmoll @Cinfhen Sometimes I get distracted with audiobooks. I find it better for me to read print with nonfiction especially. 4y
Cinfhen I usually LOVE NF on audio but I think the sexy accent is too difficult to follow. 😂😂😂 4y

#Book Report #SaturdayDec7 #nonfiction #holidaycheer #mysteryoftheweek
Say Nothing: #nonfiction only got to p. 206
Maigret Chritmas : #holidaycheer finished my first introduction to this series- such fun! His character is great.
The Disappearance of Alistair Ainsworth: #mystery of the week. Don‘t know why I felt compelled to finish- may because I enjoyed other books by the same author. Would not recommend- I found it boring.

Cinfhen So your books balanced each other a yeah and a nah 4y

With Thanksgiving this week, I decided to make my reading predictions with success in mind. 😉

keithmalek Say Nothing is outstanding. It's one of the best books I've read this year, and the best book I've ever read about the Troubles. 4y
kspenmoll @keithmalek Only on p. 96 but loving it- almost written like a novel. 4y

Finished both Garden of Lamentations #audiobook & The Scholar this week. #myidealbookclub
November Road: read up ch 28 #botmbuddyread
Lilli de Jong: read up to book 7 #LilliRead
Started Silent Voices: on p. 140 #mysteryoftheweek

Reviewsbylola I need to read November Road. I thought Lilli was well done. 4y
Cinfhen Do you read a mystery a week??? I‘m having trouble with that genre lately. Every thriller feels like rinse, wash, repeat. Nothing original 😟any suggestions?? 4y
kspenmoll @Cinfhen I just finished The Scholar by Dervla Mc Tiernan, an author new to me. I enjoyed its themes, particularly the pharmaceutical background. Reminded me of an Deadly Cure, similar themes but set in the early stages (1899) of companies. That one leaves you hanging - author is lawrence Goldstone. 4y
kspenmoll Sometimes I just read cozys when I need a familiar escape from my life!!!! Sharon McCrumb is another author you might enjoy. (edited) 4y
Cinfhen Thanks for the recommendations 😁 4y
