Andrew65 I like the sound of The Lazarus Curse and look forward to your review. 2y
kspenmoll @Andrew65 This is 4th in the series. I have found them fascinating because of all the newly emerging science/anatomy, opening up corpses for medical study, social issues. The books seem well researched. https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/tessa-harris/the-lazarus-curse/ 2y
Andrew65 @kspenmoll Thanks for this 😁 2y

Pickpick

“As for the book, it‘s no good writing about the upper classes if you hope to be taken seriously. You must have noticed that by now? Station masters, my dear, station masters” Amabelle pg 26.

An entirely light hearted Christmas read that is full of wit, cynicism, humor, a touch of absurdity, and sly deprecating comments. I don‘t know if it‘s her best, but it was a fun read going into Christmas week.

elkeOriginal OMG - those fur coats on the cover! 3y
Jess_Read_This @elkeOriginal I think there are prettier and more kind editions out there. I happened to pick this one up years ago at a used bookshop. 3y
Cathythoughts Great post , great cover 💫 3y

Pigeon Pie | Nancy Mitford

Pickpick

‘All right, keep your hair on,‘ said the old singer, taking his off and adjusting a curl. ‘Have another drink.‘

A most absurd story of Nazi spies, a murder/kidnapping of “The King of Song”, & one not too terribly intelligent heroine who is armed in charm. Sophia manages to save her godfather, dognapped Milly, & England in one fell swoop. All the while, Mitford entertains with her razor sharp satirical approach to the upper class & politicians.

Jess_Read_This I feel compelled to say that it was rather hard to review this book with Litsy character limitations. I wrote a mini essay on Goodreads. I found it to be a lovely read and having more depth than I am able to convey in my review here. ❤️ #capuchinclassics #nancymitford #bookreview #pigeonpie 5y
erzascarletbookgasm These are cool editions! 👍 5y
Jess_Read_This @erzascarletbookgasm I stumbled on this one at a used bookstore ages ago. I loved the cover. I went down the rabbit hole today researching other books Capuchin published. I agree- very cool editions! 5y

Thanks for your help this morning beauties. Thanks to Klaudia‘s (@onechaptermore1) naughty but nice suggestion I‘m taking all four books - but substituted Anaïs with Françoise Sagan because it‘s smaller. I‘m still swaying between taking the Cleland or not but these four are definites for the long weekend. ? #bookaddict #booklover #bookblog #nancymitford #bookish #bookworm #bookstamums
