So some of you use #bookspin to choose what‘s #upnext from your mountainous #tbr piles. Some of you use challenges and #bookbingo.
I‘m going to try #bookwithinabook to choose my next read. This book was mentioned in the one I just read, Commonwealth.
It‘s been waiting patiently on my shelf and my husband tells me it‘s a #mustread book. I don‘t think I‘ve read any Irving before 🤔. #currentlyreading

BkClubCare Oh wow. If you end up appreciating Irving‘s talents, I recommend Owen Meany (A Prayer for…) next. 3y
Ruthiella That‘s a pretty neat way of structuring your TBR! Garp becomes an English major I think? 🤔 So maybe there will be another book in Garp...? 3y
violabrain This is one of my all-time favorite books! I‘ve lost count how many times I‘ve read it at this point, and I hardly ever reread books! 3y

Leftcoastzen Love Garp, I have never seen that cover before. 3y
MrsMalaprop @BkClubCare thanks for the recommendation. 🙏 I‘ve read chapter 1 & can see I‘m in for a ride! 3y
MrsMalaprop @violabrain @Leftcoastzen Hopefully I‘m in for a treat then 😁. That first chapter - 😳🤭😂. Reminded me a little of Catch22 🤔. 3y
MrsMalaprop @Ruthiella A few authors already mentioned in the first chapter, so 🤞. 3y
Leftcoastzen I get that comparison for sure! 3y
Jeg I loved this book so much when I read it when it first came out. I went on to read his other books. I still have my copy. An all time favourite. 3y

Billy's Booger: With Audio Recording | William Joyce, Moonbot

Pickpick

Billy‘s Booger: A memoir (sorta) is a B, ILA Teachers' Choice award
book written & illustrated by William Joyce. This book could be used
as an IR. This book is about a boy named Billy who has always been a
little different from other children. He loves to draw and will draw
on just about anything… test and homework are not exempt! The school
librarian introduces a book making contest which is right up Billy‘s
alley. He doesn‘t win the contest but

JocelynNolton his book becomes the most
checked out book by the students at his school. I found this book
funny and creative and there is also a book within the book of
Billy‘s drawings. The UDL principle 1.1- offer ways of customizing the
display of information & EL 30- encourage the use of diagram and
drawings as aids to identify concepts and seeing relationships could
be done with this book. You could have students create their own
flipbook using this RWT tool

kkidwell I have never heard of this book before, but it sure does seem like an interesting 'pick'. I absolutely adore the idea of creating a flip book too. I also like that the flip book is digital! Finding uses to incorporate technology can sometimes be difficult. 7y
JocelynNolton This book is interesting to say the least lol but yes I really like the idea of creating the flipbook too. 7y

"S." has got to be one of the best books I've read in a long time. I love that there's a story within a story (though I'll probably be re-reading it a few times before I manage to get my head wrapped around it ?)
#bookwithinabook #bibliophile #booklover

kmcallion I just finished it last night. Bit sad that it had to come to an end. What a unique reading experience 8y
wordslinger42 @kmcallion I finished it awhile ago, but I'm thinking of rereading it soon! I like that there are different ways you can read it, too: either reading 'The Ship of Theseus' & the margin notes at the same time or reading the story first and then the notes. Definitely not another book like it! Not that I know of, anyway! 8y
kmcallion Yeah, I now wish I had just read Ship of Thesus first then gone through it again reading all the other stuff. 8y

wordslinger42 @kmcallion Agreed. I didn't read it that way either and I think I would have understood the notes better if I had. But at least I have a good excuse to read it again! 8y
kmcallion Think I will go back to it as well but far too many other things in my reading pile for now 8y

#readjanuary #day22 #bookwithinabook I wasn't sure how to interpret this, so I went with a story that's usually a self contained book that's in a collection of the authors tales. I have no idea if this is what was meant, but hey. I'm going with that.😌

Pretend the movie doesn't exist, and read this trilogy for the fantastic #BookWithinABook. #ReadJanuary

398.2 I read this when I was a kid. I just bought this book at a book fair because I told my husband I want my future kids to read it. 😀 8y

The Tidal Zone | Sarah Moss

Some books from my shelves with a #bookwithinabook.
I really loved The Tidal Zone. It is told from a father's perspective and changes between the father writing a book about Coventry Cathedral and the father trying to deal with his daughter almost dying. It was such a quiet and powerful read, and I would recommend it ti everyone! 👍

#readJanuary

vivastory Tidal Zone sounds wonderful 8y
Kalalalatja @vivastory it really is 👍 8y
jhod My favourite book of 2017 so far! A lot of it is about mundane family life, but i loved the reflections on life and death too. Also great stay at home male narrator! 8y
