Last Bookspin of the year!!

I am trying very hard to focus on the first 10 on my GR list, this will take my TBR down to 2022! So I have set this spin up to hit those titles 3 different times (this might be cheating?)
Also have a few books out from the library, and Daughters of The Winter Queen is one I tried to finish for #NFNR but only got about a third of the way through, work has been a beast.

#bookspin @thearomaofbooks

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! (And no, not cheating - gotta make the challenge work for you!! 😁) 11mo
GinaKButler Umm…I love this idea! (*still haven‘t finished some 2023 challenges*) 11mo

#NFNR is over!

Did people get some non-fiction books read? What was your favorite?

I read 10 and my favorites were
They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us,
Fuzz and the new King: A Life biography.

All three were excellent.

Bookwormjillk I read quite a few. Thanks for hosting. My favorite was 11mo
shortsarahrose I got a couple read. My favorite was 11mo
marleed I read 5 memoirs in November! 11mo

ChaoticMissAdventures @Bookwormjillk you read so many! Do you know what your percentage is fiction vs non-fiction? I was trying for 25% nonfiction this year but am failing miserably. 11mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @shortsarahrose this has been on my list! So glad to hear you enjoyed it. Dave Grohl is just an icon, I love him so much. 11mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @marleed 5! that is so good. I love learning about other people's lives. I read the Viola Davis one this month, and learned so much about her and now see her in such a more rounded light. 11mo
Bookwormjillk @ChaoticMissAdventures I‘m about 25% for the year, but I did save a lot for November. 11mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @Bookwormjillk you hit my goal for the year! Which is good because I am not making it. I am at 18% now, but have a bunch of fiction I wanted to get off my oldest TBR before end of year. Hopefully we can both squeeze in a few more.

Not a great reading month, but better than October so I'll take it! 🤣

Bummed I didn't get to my Napoleon read for #BookedInTime but at least I got my nonfiction read for #NFNR in under the wire!

dabbe You can read Napoleon any time you want. I took 11 months to get through War & Peace. 🤩🤣🤗 12mo
TheBookgeekFrau @dabbe 😂 True! I was going to re-read The Josephine B trilogy (soooo gooood!!!!); so I was actually ahead of game? Yeah, let's go with that 🤣🤣 12mo

Whoa - it's A Lot! The writing was engaging, but there was so much repetition that honestly I skimmed a whole lot. The repetition was due to the many scholars tweaking of theory through the ages, and not poor writing.

I learned a lot, had some beliefs reaffirmed, changed my mind completely on some others, and had some questions answered; though now I have different ones.

All in all avery worthy read!

A fun book about two young women biking through South America. They had a really easygoing relationship, and I enjoyed their sense of adventure.

Texreader I‘ll bet I‘d like this one! 12mo
Librarybelle Awesome! I already have this one stacked…I like these type of travelogues! 12mo
Catsandbooks Sounds fun! 🇨🇱 12mo
ChaoticMissAdventures Oh that sounds fun! Reminds me a bit of this one 12mo

How to review this book. It was extremely well written and informative, but so sobering. It looks at migration patterns mainly in the US of people after devastating natural disasters. I spent all month reading this because it was a tough topic.

ChaoticMissAdventures Sad but interesting. It sounds like a broader look but similar topic to 12mo
Bookwormjillk @ChaoticMissAdventures I have that one on my shelf to read! 12mo

I listened to this on audio and I don't think that is the way to go for anyone like me who doesn't have a framework for the era. I got lost at times and wish I had the book to go back and understand what had happened. The author stretched themselves a bit to make this book work, it didn't feel there was solid evidence to point to Napoleon and gardening so the entire book felt as if she led you through his life saying "look he was by a garden!"

ChaoticMissAdventures This was my #bookedintime #nfnr book for Napoleon era! @Cuilin @dabbe 12mo
dabbe On the spreadsheet! 🤩 12mo
Cuilin Sounds like they definitely stretched the idea. Napoleon Era ✅🎉 12mo

This is a fascinating book about the beginnings of the US Forest Service and our relationship with public lands. The scenes that describe the 1910 wildfire in Idaho are fast paced, and the background information about forestry is interesting.

forestandcrow I have wanted to read this as its in the area i live. Love my home because of all the history. 12mo
ChaoticMissAdventures I have seen this floating around the bookstores for years and always thought it sounded interesting! 12mo

This treasure was buried among the free books on my Kindle. It was a hard read, and really makes you think about the people who left home to find a better life that we celebrate on Thanksgiving and those that we refuse to help. This short book by Ousman Umar describes his journey from Ghana to Spain between the ages of about 13-17. We should all read this book.

Librarybelle I think I will be reading for these challenges for years to come! 12mo
Bookwormjillk @Librarybelle I‘m getting close on Asia, but it will still probably go into next year. 12mo
BarbaraBB Kudos for almost finishing Africa!! 12mo
ChaoticMissAdventures This sounds so good, and Thanksgiving is the perfect time for hard immigrant stories. 12mo
