Wow what a profound and heartbreaking story About the inmates that fight the California wildfires. This audiobook includes a section with recordings of the women mentioned in the story. It was a great eye opening story. Highly recommend if you are interested in understanding the people who are imprisoned to fight wildfires.

I am a huge Ellen Wood fan! Wood has such amazing skill as an historian. She refuses to offer tautologies or transhistorical assumptions to explain historical processes. I guarantee that reading this book will make you a better student of history if only by demonstrating the importance of asking the question, “is this theory assuming precisely what needs to be explained?” You‘ll be surprised by how often historians do just that! #nonficnovember

Yes, yes, I know that it's #nonficnovember, but I borrow this from the library while testing the new Libby app. The app is WAY better now and this book has me hooked already! I don't normally read many books like this so I'm looking forward to a new world to explore. #litsypartyofone

Nute I bought this book, the first book in the series, but as what usually happens I haven‘t purchased the other books. I think I should wait until the series is finished and then get them as a boxed set or just bypass series. I was only successful with Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. 6y
CatchMyBookBreath @Nute Good to know! Glad it's just a library book in this case then! 6y
