I got some new friends while we were reading. The top two are the same octopus, just reversed. The green side glows in the dark. The red one is much smaller and can actually sit on your shoulder via a little magnetic disk.

GingerAntics @TheBookHippie well, the reverse of the glow in the dark one is like “don‘t make me flip this octopus around. I will release the pissed off octopus if you want to push it.” 🤣😂🤣 13h

This had way less philosophy than I was anticipating. I guess I misunderstood what was being discussed and described by the word “consciousness.” It was still a really interesting book. I have an all new appreciation for octopi, and my love of the sea is deeper than before. Maybe not a great book from a philosophical perspective, but still a really good book about life on earth, especially in the ocean.

We‘ve officially reached the end of the book… or at least the post for the last discussion. Final thoughts? Any snide remarks? I‘m here for whatever you‘ve got. lol

CatLass007 Thank you for the tag. I‘m sorry I missed the group discussions. I hope I get to participate in the discussions for the next book. 1d

CatLass007 I bought this book because your group is reading it and because I love Remarkably Bright Creatures. I haven‘t read it yet but I look forward to doing so. Who hosts your philosophy group? I‘d like to be added to the tag list. I know everyone is taking their time with this book but I‘m interested in this book in particular and the group in general. 1d
GingerAntics @CatLass007 I do, actually. I can definitely add you to the tags. 1d
CatLass007 Excellent! Thank you so much! Could you please explain to me how the buddy read works? And exactly what is the name of the buddy read? I noticed you had a couple of hashtags that included the word “philosophy.“ 1d
GingerAntics @CatLass007 we are the dead philosophers society… and we have adventures in philosophy. lol We usually take about 4-6 weeks off between books to let things process and let people catch up. This is the first book I didn‘t post discussion questions, so we may go back to that. I‘m not sure. We‘ll pick another book in the next week or so, and then I‘ll post the reading schedule. We usually do a chapter a week. 20h
CatLass007 Thank you.😊 20h

Well, this was an interesting chapter. I did not need to know about that one guy‘s funeral plans. I can‘t help wondering if he actually got his wish, though.

TheBookHippie This chapter seemed weird. Or it‘s me 😮‍💨😵‍💫🥴😂 1w
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie then I‘m weird, too. It was weird. “This is how cephalopods and weird scientists die!” 1w
AlaSkaat Spoilers, spoilers, I‘m almost there!! 😂 I‘ve had a very bad past 2 weeks, I‘m just starting this chapter. I‘ll be back 🫡 1w
GingerAntics @AlaSkaat you‘re good… no spoilers 1w

3 ⭐ This isn‘t a book so much as a song with pictures added. The original Octopus‘s Garden came out in 1969. This is a little funny, but when you hear the music, it makes so much more sense. This book is really about the illustration. The illustrations are done well, and I think if it was done correctly, this could be a lot of fun at story time.

lil1inblue My sister used this book for her music program at the preschool she worked at. The kids loved it when paired with some music education! 3w

Anyone else feeling like this is more marine biology and very little philosophy? Don‘t get me wrong. I‘m enjoying the book. It‘s just not what I was expecting.

GingerAntics The next chapter sounds like it may actually have some philosophy in it. 🤞🏻 3w
TheBookHippie I don‘t mind either and I‘m learning 🤷🏻‍♀️😂😅but yes. Science book maybe? 3w
kspenmoll Sorry I had to return to library …. 3w
GingerAntics @kspenmoll totally understand! 3w

How is everyone‘s reading experience going? I greatly enjoyed the part discussing seeing without experiencing sight. I wonder what that is like.

kspenmoll I am contemplating bailing only because I have to return the book to the library . I am also soooo far behind because I was so sick most of February. 3w
GingerAntics @kspenmoll that‘s fair… I‘m struggling with it not being all that philosophical. It‘s in there in pieces, but it‘s mostly about marine biology, to me. 3w
