It‘s the most wonderful time of the year! #AuldLangSpine2024 sign ups are open! 🥰

I‘m asking Santa to magically make my matches list already exist on my owned TBR.

BarbaraJean That is an ingenious Christmas wish--well played. 😄 13mo
Billypar I had the same wish 😆 I'm not sure how mine exploded so much this past year 🤷‍♂️ 13mo

As funny as Bill Bryson, as sincere as Barbara Kingsolver, and with goat-hijinks- anyone who wants the human race to survive with enough food for all of us should read this book. I read so many parts out loud to my patient husband, because they were too funny not to share! And if that doesn‘t convince you to pick it up, there are recipes.

Lcsmcat @Leftcoastzen Thanks, they‘re my husband‘s project. His thumb is much greener than mine. 2y

I quite liked this intriguing novel, one inspired by a true story. I must say that I was not a fan of the writing, but the story of the young, teenage girl living with her father secretly in the woods and what happens when they‘re discovered was fascinating and troubling. The real pair were named Frank and Ruth; I‘ll leave it for those interested to discover where the book and actual events part ways. The whole thing is worth exploring.

Caroline is 13. She and her father live in forest park in Portland, moving around so they won‘t be found. But they eventually are, upending their lives. This book didn‘t go where I expected and it left me with questions and thoughts. The story and writing are simplistic, but ultimately I felt it worked.

Not my favorite Cole, but there were several things I liked. Great atmosphere, good world building, fully developed characters, and the snowy remote location. Arden and Gabriel were an engaging couple in this post-apocalyptic romance.

#JubilantJuly

Surprisingly, there‘s not much that happens in this post-apocalyptic series, but the romances are fun—and different than what I‘ve read from Cole. #readblackauthors #bookspinbingo

Jas16 I really need to read the third book. For some reason I paused after the second and never went back even though I liked them. 4y

Mehso-so

In the genre of a child living off the grid with a parent, it is a pretty shallow accounting, without soul, beauty, fear, any higher thinking. After having read The Great Alone and Where the Crawdads Sing it was maybe a “meh”. I was so hoping for at least a satisfying ending!

Reviewsbylola Check out The Ordinary skincare products! Idk if he will follow a whole skincare regimen but I‘ve seen others have great results with it. Also the Mario Badescu spot treatment! 5y
Cinfhen Thanks @Reviewsbylola he‘s been getting occasional breakouts and it‘s driving him nuts!! I‘m sure he would commit to a whole skincare regime 5y
Reviewsbylola I had two zits last week and you would have thought my world was ending. I wanted to put a paper bag over my head. 🤣 @emilyhaldi was not amused and did not feel bad, although she let me borrow her spot treatment! (edited) 5y
Cinfhen My favorite acne spot treatment was a correction stick by Murad but they discontinued it @Reviewsbylola I‘m sooooo upset 😡 5y
