Just finished listening to the tagged book. Very interesting read. They mentioned in the story about a book poisoning someone. So I thought, could this happen? I decided to come on here and ask all of u lovely littens. What do you think?

BookLove4Ever When I read that book I thought he was such a little punk. 😂 Books can put me in a good mood or bad mood depending on the book. Otherwise people see what they want to see. 🤷‍♀️ 2mo
shortsarahrose I haven‘t read Dorian Grey, so I can‘t speak to how they mean poison, but in the 19th century, some book bindings actually contained arsenic! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison_Book_Project#:~:text=P.... 2mo
swynn Well, there was this murder in The Name of the Rose... 2mo

I haven‘t seen that many plays or musicals in my life, but there were some that were especially memorable.

1. My college roommate was in a production of the tagged play.
2. I saw a cool production of Richard III with my sister at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
3. In high school I was in the pit orchestra for Carousel, so I got to know it VERY well.

Susanita @dabbe I love it too! The girl who played that part had a beautiful voice. She and the girl who played the lead were good friends IRL, so it was good casting. 2mo

Yes I do I have a Nightingale and a Rose from the Oscar Wilde short story - be prepared if you read it, it‘s devastating!

I also wanted Bagheera from the Jungle Book but ended up getting a regular leopard instead on my back. I wanted a regal protector character and the leopard seemed perfect.

I also want a squid from 20,000 leagues under the sea.

Maybe if people want I can post pictures of them!

4.3⭐️ I was introduced to Serial Reader @Roary47 which is what I‘m using to complete my classic countdown for the year. I really like how it breaks down the classic by issues that you read once a day. I have always wanted to read this book in super excited that I finished my last issue tonight. Looking forward to my next classic February.

I don't think this was the best book for audio, but it was fascinating. I have an annotated Dracula and I think this book is a great companion.

It pieces together writings, Oscar Wilde and history. It‘s a slice of LGBTQ+ history and how the community lived in mid to late 1800 Ireland. How all of this helped make Dracula. All of the influence, references, imagery, etc.

Wilde wrote this letter while he was in prison for “gross indecency.” He is a beautiful writer, whether it‘s letters, plays, or books.

Perhaps Im first entering into Wilde‘s works at an odd time, reading his famous prison prose De Profundis, written at the nadir of his career, before encountering any of the dramatic works that first made him a literary giant. But Im happy to get to know an older, more subdued Wilde who writes w/ humility but also (I think) no apology, acknowledging any past vices only so that they are swept aside to accommodate his spiritual awakening.
