#storygraph just keeps getting better! Last week it was overhauled recs (already good to begin with, now even better) - and today I noticed the much talked about barcode scanner feature went live for me. Tested it out, works great! Perfect timing cause I was planning on cataloguing my owned books for stats (and to help ensure I #readmyshelves in 2024) - thanks to this scanner that project will take much less time! #thestorygraph
A soft pick. This memoir tracks the early years in the author's life as an undocumented immigrant from China. It ends somewhat abruptly when she is 12 years old, and her mother takes her to Canada, with a brief flash forward of her returning to the U.S. This was my August #Doublespin and another in my effort to #readmyshelves @TheAromaofBooks
I ended up doing a decent amount of skimming in the last quarter of the book. It was pretty obvious all along where the story was going, and the alternating voices between Nell and Alice were getting annoying. I found the whole thing very meh. One more down in my quest to #readmyshelves.
Another winner from Jane Harper! I loved the setting of the South Australian wine country, and I loved the return of Raco and Rita from The Dry. I'm sad to hear this is the last of the Aaron Falk books, apparently slated to be a trilogy. This was another #readmyshelves selection.
In an attempt to #readmyshelves, I pulled this old #BotM selection randomly off my shelf and finally got it read. It was fantastic! It was a slow starter for me - probably more about my mindset than the prose - but once I was hooked I poured through it in a day.
While I always love Stephanie Garber for her whimsy and magic, I do wish Evageline was a little bit tougher. I felt she was always crying and being rescued in this one.

As a Gardener I may know a few Plant Obsessed People. I could definitely identify with Crazy Talk To Plants People. Lots of witty dialogue. This a book for Gardeners. I understand the Gardener vs Bunny Horde dilemma but a couple times it turn a bit unsettling. I have good bunnies in my yard. Gracie and Bun-Bum are well behaved. 🐰
