I‘m sad and hangry today (but it‘s nothing to what I‘ll be later tonight since I‘ve got a colonoscopy tomorrow) so I picked up a book that‘s been on my shelf forever. In fact, there was an unopened card in it from a Secret Santa from an email list serv that hasn‘t existed in decades! That did make me crack a small smile, remembering when I was too young for colonoscopies. 😂

Ruthiella The prep is awful. You have my sympathy! But personally speaking, the actual event is not a big deal and the drugs are awesome. The best nap ever. So I‘m hoping that is the case for you too! 3mo
BookNAround @Ruthiella I have a crap (pun intended) genetic history so this is already my third colonoscopy. You‘re not wrong though; it is the best sleep ever! 3mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I hope everything goes well!! I‘m the same today from a dental procedure 😫😫 3mo

LiteraryinLawrence When I prepped for one I just watched Friends for hours straight. I couldn‘t focus on reading. Good luck! 3mo

BookNAround @slategreyskies @LiteraryinLawrence @Jas16 @Ruthiella @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thanks! It went well and I have a 5 year reprieve, which is all they give people with my genetic history. All in all, as good as can be expected! (edited) 3mo

A reread from forever and ever ago. I still enjoy Becky and all her misadventures. It‘s a bit dated, but considering all the bank letter state the month and year it didn‘t feel as out of date as it would have otherwise.

marleed Haha. Sometimes I think I‘d rather read old contemporary fiction than historical fiction. Sometimes HF just puts to much of today into the characters of yester years! 13mo

I thoroughly enjoyed this book but wished I knew it was no7 of the series . When I picked this book up I don‘t realise that it was part of series until I started reading it. I will definitely go back to the start of the series to find out the references to the earlier books. It also ends leading into the next book with a lot of questions which I find a little frustrating but will read it to find out

In ‘22, I finally read the first and last book in this series, so looking at my paperbacks and inspired by the yellow binding, I went for book #3. This series began 20 years ago, but for its genre, I think the series stands the test of time and I‘m entertained reading it now, even when Becky makes her life way more complicated than need be.

Becky was finally more mature and I liked her in this installment. Becky's mother & Janice have usually been much more fun so it was a bit disappointing in this one.

I was so annoyed with Tarkie & Graham who couldn't tell what they were doing or where they were. I think the meaning was to keep this somehow mysterious but I was only annoyed. I never understood their reason not to tell. But overall this one was a light adventure.

I was a bit disappointed to see how little character growth we have seen during the series. It feels like Becky is going nowhere and behaves similarly day after day even though she has seen how badly things go then.

This wasn't as fun as I thought this would be. I also hated how people treated each other in film industry and how Becky still wanted to be one them.

This was still light to read and I was entertained.
