Starts off with a bang and then gets weird. It falls off a bit after a defining moment in the book, making it slower paced. I didn‘t hate it, but it was by far not my favorite of his books. Maybe it‘ll translate better visually when my husband and I watch it for one of my #Scarathon movie picks.

I absolutely, positively canNOT believe I almost forgot to post that I finally finished this long winded tale. Thank goodness I snagged a last pic as a final goodbye before I brought it back to the library. So far, this one has been the hardest in the series for me. The mundane, every day life descriptions were too much and far away from the normal historical and even romantic sides it usually has. A brutal one for me but I DID IT! 🤣👏🏼

I thought I had a whole extra week still in September, whoops! It won‘t be my best board (thanks back to school) but it left a lot of perfect reads to roll over to my October #bookspin and #Scarathon list! I am excited to take a bite 🧛🏼‍♀️ out of these reads and get some points for #TeamSlaughter. 🎃🍂

Edit: I was over zealous; the waitlist on some of these is HUGE, thus, a few have since changed but all are worthy replacements 🤣

Clwojick Looks like a great list! Can‘t wait for the event to begin! 2w

Finally got to try out the Libby app. Although I still prefer physical books, I‘m getting used to and appreciating kindle reads more. Anywayyyy, I didn‘t know what to expect from this book, it was just recommended. It did not disappoint and the cliffhanger at the end had me diving into the sequel. Enjoying the characters and their development alongside the creative, fantastical and magical world that Novik draws you into.

Only half of my September #bookspin pile is shown. I went for a little bit of everything in terms of “fall feels” and I am SUPER excited. A little romance, some spook; some even a little bit of both. Fall is my FAVORITE.

My ride from Florida was equal parts driving and reading this. I love Taylor Jenkins Reid; this is the 3rd of hers I read and loved. Her characters and stories are so complex, always rooted somewhat in reality. Her writing style is easy to read and absorbs you. She intertwined both Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo into this book. Filled with trials, tribulations, family, loss, love and so much more, I recommend this book. TJR is a must read author.

Another (hot!) day of soccer for this dude. He kicked some SERIOUS bootie with 6 goals, while today I kicked this books butt! It was a super fast paced YA. Not what I expected, but definitely not unwelcome. I really couldn‘t (and didn‘t want to) put it down to adult. It has a little bit of adventure, mystery and some science fiction. On top of it all, you enjoy going with Miranda on her coming of age story.

KateReadsYA Awww how fun. We had to miss our soccer practice today due to the heat being out of control haha. 2mo

I really wanted to like it. I have enjoyed a lot of his other works, but I couldn‘t. This one wasn‘t it. The characters seemed more woe is me and selfish. In the end, it doesn‘t seem like the learned the value of time or any moral just like a rushed ending. I finished it because I committed to it, but not going to recommend. Maybe others could relate better than I.

A weekend full of soccer tournament games left us whooped. I didn‘t have tons of time to read, but I did get to finish this gem! A story full of character growth and change; romantically and emotionally. Historical facts and situations woven in, yet, the drama and intrigue kept this a light, beachy-vibe read!

I did not care for the main character, Natalie in certain regards. So consumed by her own life that she didn‘t realize big things about those “closest” to her and yet they find her charming..the flip-side being that her old workers called her “toxic”?! However, the face of tragedy makes her restart her entire life and I love the bookshop feel. From storybook references to historical findings, this book is a cozy, love filled gem.

Stuck between a so-so and pick on this one. Went with pick because for some reason I couldn‘t put it down. The writing was light and airy. It transports you back to middle school and high school summers with your best friends, figuring out life and all its mysteries. You find yourself relating to Vix, going through moments of loathing the type of friend Caitlin is. You get swept up on their journey, that‘s for sure.

I struggled between so-so and a pick. It being quite a bit slower than anticipated was the deciding factor. I couldn‘t tell if the information they were giving me was always entirely relevant or not. I found myself thinking “..and the point is”, whilst convincing myself it would all come together. It was a good book, not earth shattering, but good. Definitely didn‘t need to be as long as it was. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is something about her writing that I can‘t put my finger on, but I absolutely LOVE. I remember feeling the same after I read Daisy Jones and the Six. All I can say is, this book is a big yes for me. Scandal, heartache, success, lust, love and spice. This book truly has it all, including an out loud “whoa, didn‘t see that coming” moment.

I am SO behind on posting, well, anything.

I absolutely LOVED the After series. Good girl meets bad boy spicy romance with a good plot. The bulk of this is from the main male character, Hardin‘s, perspective. It just seemed lackadaisical compared to the original novel; rushed to get the whole story in. She put in snippets from other character views to try and piece more of the story together, but it just seemed displaced. This one was just ok.

No. Just not for me. At all.
I found it wasn‘t just the “hermits” story; there were so many components NOT related to Knight that were just whole paragraphs of non-fiction, text book babble. That, I may add, were not needed and didn‘t add to the story, in my opinion. Also, I found it annoying how often Knight told Michael to leave him alone AND HE DIDN‘T. I applaud myself on not bailing, even though I was tempted. This was my #bookspin though!

FelinesAndFelonies I couldn't agree more! Like, boundaries much? It's like Finkel felt entitled to tell Knight's story despite his repeated requests to be left alone. It felt gross. 🤢 4mo

Less redundancy than her last book I read, but still present. I HATE that she starts sentences with “and”. You can‘t get attached to characters because of lack of development..BUT honestly I was roped into the storyline. The historical side story interspersed and paralleled with her characters current situations was engaging. I didn‘t hate it and it was the perfect first, post surgery book.

Maybe it was the style of writing, but I could NOT tell the purpose of the book. The plot was so vague and mixed with how the story was told, I honestly felt like the book had nothing. 🤷🏻‍♀️ may be one for others, but lost for me. Extremely slow plot that didn‘t ultimately seem like it had a point. Good storyline, yet entire pieces of it just didn‘t fit. The quick, out of the blue relationship, an entire family that was known about but never discussed and then comes home. 🤷🏻‍♀️ BUT, the premise of coping with a loss made you feel deeply and putting the pieces together of a “mystery” sucked you in and kept you going.

Although I can understand why she was so closed off, parts of me got frustrated with Skye for not giving people a chance. But, one relationship changes it all; who she was, who she wants to be and all the relationships that she didn‘t think meant anything, but do. I laughed, I cried, I sometimes could relate.
