I couldn‘t put this down. Maura owns a town pub called Sullivan‘s. In the middle of a blizzard several people are stuck @ the pub til the storm stops. One of them is the woman suspected in a murder years ago and she insists on her innocence. So the group decide to go over the details since they have nothing else to do for the night.

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 This anthology is only sort of the second book in a series. Blackout takes place in New York City during a blackout. I lived in New York long enough to know how scary that could possibly be even though I never actually experienced one. Whiteout is written by the same six authors and takes place during a blizzard in Atlanta. As a native West Virginian, I always find reactions of Southerners to a few snowflakes to (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 be pretty hilarious. To someone from West Virginia, 6 inches of snow is not really very much. In Atlanta, the city shuts down. Actually, where I live in East Tennessee pretty much shuts down also. It‘s interesting to see how certain people react in a crisis in both anthologies. And of course, all of these are love stories. 7mo
RamsFan1963 @Catlass I grew up in the rural part of Virginia, near the border with Tennessee, and I remember big snows, closing school for weeks at a time, which always sucked because it ate up your summer vacation to make up the days. I live in WV now, and it's currently snowing. I once lived in Virginia Beach, VA and I laughed at how hysterical people got over 2 or 3 inches of snow lol. Like it was a Snowmageddon or something. 🤣🤣🤣 7mo
CatLass007 @RamsFan1963 I believe we discussed our travels in the Appalachian region before. I know in my hometown of Beckley, WV we rarely had snow days growing up. It‘s my understanding that they‘re now a lot more cautious about sending kids to school when there is heavy snow. When I was a student at Clemson, I don‘t think there was an inch of snow on the ground, but they closed down the University and the town. The further north a city is (cont)⬇️ (edited) 7mo

I enjoy stories with interconnected characters like this. While many of the romances touched on similar themes/tropes, I liked the diversity in characters. The main romance between Stevie and Sola was actually my least favorite. I liked the overarching friendships best. Glad to read this with the #sundaybuddyread crew @TheBookHippie

#ReadAway2024

Read for #SundayBuddyRead, it‘s a very soft pick from me—too much YA angst & too many characters to keep track of, but I think the concept of different YA authors creating the interlocking stories was good. Some of the characters & stories sparkled more than others, but it was a good pick for a light December read & if I was the intended YA target looking for diversity & representation in my books, I‘m sure I‘d have loved it. ❄️❄️❄️

Oh, to be young and in love and the biggest worry is if your partner will forgive you…

I would not have picked up this book if not for #SundayBuddyRead , and I probably would have bailed on it long ago. Too much angst (and I am a ‘90s grunge/alt-rock girl, full of angst and anger 😂). I did learn a lot about sea animals!

DogMomIrene Your description of your angst and anger is kind of cracking me up…because every time I see your avatar, I always think it‘s such a cute graphic. But I get it. I‘m an 80s kid so I‘m a pessimistic idealist😂 8mo

A fun bit escapism. A little too YA for me and some of the stories were a bit one note. But it was fun seeing how all the stories interconnected. It was refreshing seeing different types of characters. Read for #sundaybuddyread
