Middle grade read. After the loss of her middle sister and Mother, Sol's Dad remarries and moves her and her littlest sister to the US. Then he returns to the Philippines, leaving behind the girls to contend with their step mom, grief, and finding support in unlikely places. Enjoyable read about the bonds of sisters.

You think you know the story of Snow White? Think again. Grump, an unusual dwarf fascinated with the surface world is here to set the record straight.

This was an adorable and an interesting twist on a rather classic fairy tale. Grump is a snarky & curios POV that you can‘t help but sympathize with. Snow was spunky & clever. The narrator was perfect for the tone. I really enjoyed this, but felt the epilogue was entirely unnecessary. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

LaurelChandler Hi! Could you point me out who started #FairytaleReadingChallenge? I'd like to join the fun! 2y
BookmarkTavern @LaurelChandler Hi, of course! @Charityann is the one who started this particular challenge. This is the second year. There‘s a fairy tale for each month, and there‘s more info here: https://charityrau.wordpress.com/2021/12/28/fairytale-reading-challenge-2022/ 2y
LaurelChandler @ozma.of.oz Thank you! I live for retellings and this looks wonderful. Also, love your review! 2y

An old children‘s book I never read, but it was a cute read! Follows a handful of kids and their worries ranging from having a crush to not wanting their stepmother. Cute read filled with British humor that may not be everyone‘s cup of tea. A bit of a product of it‘s time, but I liked it.

Just trying to get through my physical TBR, and trust me I‘ve got a long way to go haha. Promise it‘s not all comics and children lit. 😂

4/5🌟

Shaskan‘s twist on this TL story makes it a must add to elementary classrooms! The wicked stepmothers side of the story will have readers second guessing the classic tale. This story would do well in a DR setting. An article from ERIC explains the benefits of DR, and the techniques that can be implemented in the classroom. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED372435.pdf

Betrinag UDL principle 1.1, customizing the display of information, and EL strategy 16, integrating speaking activities, will tie the book and DR together. #ucflae3414sp21 3y
PatriciaS This wonderful picture on the cover ☺️ makes me want to read and then your review 👍 thanks for this addition to my list. Looks like it is fun and hilarious 😆 3y
PatriciaS A wonderful way to incorporate fun reading habits with children and discussion sessions, guided questions about the reading to assess students comprehension. 3y
Betrinag @PatriciaS It was really fun, highly recommend! 3y
DrSpalding What a fun read! Yes it is a variant of traditional literature that could also be considered modern fantasy! This would make a very fun dramatic reenactment and could be used in your language arts curriculum as a mentor text for point of view. 3y
