E. Shaver, Bookseller | Savannah, GA (Bookstore)

We visited a marvelous bookstore today while on vacation in Savannah, Georgia! It was room after room of books and great bookish merchandise and a beautiful location in the historic district on the corner of Madison Square 😍. There were fun murals, two bookstore cats, and a wonderful selection of beautiful classics! Highly recommend if you are ever in Savannah! #supportindiebookstores

LeafingThroughLife Just starting to plan a trip to Savannah in the fall and will definitely have to check this place out! 😍 Thanks for the tip! 9mo

Left Bank Books | St Louis, MO (Bookstore)
post image

St. Louis bookstore #3 was Left Bank Books, and it was a great one! Again, it had a fantastic selection, great staff recommendation cards, fun bookish merchandise, and this one has lots of seating throughout! It was an inviting, stay-as-long-as-you-want atmosphere. The booksellers were super accommodating, too! It's in a cool, historic building, and the store has a long history of community involvement and civic action. #supportindiebookstores

Sharpeipup I put this on the list for my May trip. 13mo

Subterranean Books | University City, MO (Bookstore)

St. Louis bookstore #2 was Subterranean Books in University City. It was in a fun neighborhood filled with restaurants, bars, and shops. It had a good selection and nice displays as well as lots of staff recommendation cards. This one ranks 3rd, though, in our adventures, marked down for no customer seating, least friendly staff of the day, and no customer restroom 😔. Still, I got some great books! #supportindiebookstores

The Novel Neighbor | St. Louis, MO (Bookstore)
post image

St. Louise bookstore #1! Our first stop was at The Novel Neighbor. It's such a fantastic store! A huge selection of books and tons of bookish-related merchandise - journals, mugs, candles, totes, cards, etc. They also had fun displays and great staff recommendation cards! My only suggestion would be to add seating - only one comfy chair in the back to sit and peruse potential purchases. Overall, we loved it! #supportindiebookstores

Texreader Sounds wonderful!! What fun you had! 13mo
MaureenMc This is my favorite St. Louis bookstore, although I prefer Left Bank‘s location. 😁 13mo
staci.reads @Texreader we did, thanks! 13mo
staci.reads @MaureenMc I loved them both. I'm jealous of anyone with good local indies! 13mo
mabell Novel Neighbor is fun! But I definitely agree on the seating! 13mo

It's not the tagged one, but I discovered a fantastic new book store on our weekend in Galena, Illinois. I walked away with three new books, a cocktail puzzle, and a free sticker with grammar humor. I chatted with the friendly owner, and we exchanged book recs. Highly recommend Galena Book and Paper! #supportindiebookstores

JenReadsAlot Oh I love Galena! 2y

Bookstore #3 was amazing! Magers and Quinn sells both new and used, and holy cow, it's big and it's bursting with books! Also, fantastic, friendly staff who love to talk books! We spent a long time in this one 📚🙂 #supportindiebookstores

vivastory I lived right down the street from Magers & Quinn when I first moved to Minneapolis in '09. One of my fave bookstores of all time! 2y
staci.reads @vivastory Oh wow, I'd be in big trouble if I lived down the street from it! 😂 2y

Birchbark Books and Native Arts | Minneapolis, MN (Bookstore)
post image

This weekend's indie bookstore #2 was tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood of old houses in Uptown Minneapolis. Focusing on Native American literature and arts, it was a welcoming, lovely store, with a small, but fantastic children's section that includes a balcony and a hidden cubby. Plus, how can you not love a store with a canoe hanging from the ceiling?! #supportindiebookstores

Butterfinger I'm reading Louise Erdrich's The Sentence now. I love this post. 2y
Butterfinger Was she, by chance, there? 2y
staci.reads @Butterfinger She was not, unfortunately, but signed copies of her books were in abundance! I picked up a signed copy of The Night Watchman. 2y

I spent my birthday weekend in the Twin Cities and while we were there, I visited 3 wonderful indie book stores! I'll post my haul later, but I wanted to share these lovely places first. This one was an accidental find as we were leaving the Winter Carnival In St. Paul. Subtext Books is lovely with cozy seating and a great selection. #supportindiebookstores
