The only reason I‘m not giving this picture book a 5-star rating is because of the text design. On some pages the text is placed over a cloud that grays the artwork beneath. Sometimes white text (with a gray shadow) is placed against a bright yellow background. In both cases, I find the effect visually unappealing and not easy to read.
Mi‘maq artist Alan Syliboy says he is inspired by petroglyphs. I love these animals and the texture of the landscape they are leaping through.
