I don't know if I'm reading slower or reading Gaiman slow. Either way, this 330 page book took me a month to read. However, I still loved it!

I've discovered there's a miniseries and can't wait to get my hands on it and see this world brought to life.

The was my #GenreChallenge for March. Contemporary fantasy was the randomly chosen genre. This subgenre is a fantasy story in a modern-day setting. It often contains magic but it is not obvious.

Still working on “Neverwhere“ slowly but surely. Hoping to finish by the weekend and dive into my next read.

Love Gaiman but man, I read his works so slow. They are so good though!

#ReadAway2024 Based on a true story, this was a wonderful book. It takes place in London during WWII when thousands of people who lost their homes to the Blitz lived in an unfinished Tube station. In Bethnal Green the library was destroyed on the first night of the Blitz and the Head Librarian is killed. Clara is the head of the library built in the Tube station. In spite of the sad things that happened, some things are happy. The author (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 interviewed 100 librarians in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 1922 opening of the Bethnal Green Library. The quotes from these librarians that open each chapter are bittersweet to me. In England there is a statute that requires free libraries to be opened. The love of reading and respect for librarians doesn‘t seem to exist in the US anymore, if it ever did. There were many characters and the resolutions of their stories may (cont)⬇️ 3w
CatLass007 have been dragged out a little but that‘s a minor issue. The love of reading is such a strong presence in this book that I still give the book 5 stars out of 5. 3w

#FirstLineFridays

From the prologue: The night before he went to London, Richard Mayhew was not enjoying himself.

From Chapter One: She had been running for four days now, a harum-scarum tumbling flight through passages and tunnels.

behudd My favorite Gaiman! Such a good one 🤩 1mo

This is an interesting tour of how the London Underground developed, and how it in turn caused London to develop and expand. It details the rivalries between the companies that originally owned the individual lines, and the key players who made the system what it became. The history and the architecture of the system fascinates me.

CarolynM Stacked. I love the London Underground. I once did a tour that covered a lot of the history and pointed out some remnants of it like ghost stations - fascinating! 2mo

TheEllieMo @CarolynM there‘s a programme called Secrets of the London Underground on the Yesterday channel (available on UKTV Play https://uktvplay.co.uk/shows/secrets-of-the-london-underground/watch-online) that shows the old stations and tunnels. It‘s fascinating and I‘m absolutely addicted to it🤣 2mo
