#VirginiaBloomsberries

I really enjoyed this glimpse into the rural life of VW and her fellow authors.

🌿 What did you think of the biography?

🌿 Did the accounts of VW's contemporaries, Townsend-Warner & Lehmann, help give context into her world?

All welcome to join in. Please let me know if you wish to be added/removed from the taglist.

TheBookHippie I like rounding her out so to speak with all the differing books and letters and witnesses to her life. Give context to a complex person I think. 5d

AllDebooks @TheBookHippie I thought so. I'm glad you thought the same. I was worried about adding this to the buddy read list as only a third of it is about VW. However, I'm glad I did as it was quite a different pov of her. 5d
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks I think so too. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It‘s good to see all sides I think. 5d
PurpleyPumpkin I had a bit trouble getting my hands on this book. But I was able to order a copy from Britain and just received it! I will read it shortly and then circle back to your questions. I‘m looking forward to this one! 5d

Pickpick

This was a quiet short story told from the viewpoint of a snail. Admittedly, I read it to bump up my “books read“ count for the year. But I enjoyed it. And it makes me to want to pick up another of hers. I've been contemplating a re-read of Mrs. Dalloway. Perhaps now is the time.

📸 I've never been to Kew Gardens but it looks inviting.

A very happy 100th birthday to my number one favorite book of all time: Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf! 🩷🩷🩷

On March 14th 1925, Woolf published one of the greatest pieces of literature! 🥳🎉 This book has influenced my life in so many ways, and I will forever love it and Virginia Woolf! 📖

Billypar I think I'm finally going to read it sometime in the next few months - looking forward to it! 2mo
tpixie Do you recommend the annotated version for a first time VW reader? 2mo
Clare-Dragonfly Wow, happy birthday Mrs. Dalloway! I should give it a reread—I haven‘t read it since high school, but I loved it then. 2mo
Branwen @Billypar YES! That's awesome! I can't wait to hear what you think about it! 💕 @Clare-Dragonfly Now is the perfect time for a reread! 🥰 @tpixie Absolutely! I don't think it's necessary to read the annotated version, but you will definitely get the most out of it by reading it that way for the first time! 📖🩷 2mo
tpixie @Branwen thanks! I‘ll have to order it on Bookshop.org 2mo
