#VirginiaBloomsberries January's #buddyread discussion thread.

📚 What did you think of the various writing styles between stories?
📚 Did you enjoy any particular stories? If so, why?
📚 Do you like the stream-of-consciousness style she uses?

All are welcome to join us. Please let me know if you wish to be added/removed from the taglist.

Next up - Jacob's Room https://litsy.com/p/c3lpd2JsbHJN

Librarybelle Still playing catchup, but please keep me on the tag list. I fell behind but want to read her works in order, so it‘ll be a bit before I‘m up with the group. 3w
Cuilin What I find interesting about Woolf‘s writing is that I really enjoy it while I‘m reading and two days later I forgotten the majority of what I‘ve read. I remember birds flying over a town. Oh and a group of women asking if men are worth the praise bestowed on them? 3w

TheBookHippie I prefer her short stories and stream of consciousness over her long ones. I read a few twice to soak them in. I printed out Monday or Tuesday for my collage journal. 3w
AllDebooks @Librarybelle please don't feel under pressure. It's a relaxed group. Enjoy them as and when you get to them. 😊 3w
AllDebooks @Cuilin that's true. 🤣 I did enjoy Kew Garden with the view pint of the flower bed. 3w
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie adding them to your journal is a good idea 💡 3w
TheBookHippie I didn‘t fully check this out but it appears to be our February book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNAdq9NHTlw 3w
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie oh lovely, thank you for the link x 3w
AnishaInkspill I will come back to this as soon as I have read it, but previously I have read Kew Garden and I really liked its style, I am looking forward to this 3w
AllDebooks @AnishaInkspill Kew Garden was my favourite story. 😍 3w

As she experimented with memoir, biography, and novels that contained elements of each, [Woolf] noticed that the process by which events are converted into history is inevitably distorting, for the past acquires in the telling a shape and coherence that is absent from the present. It's an observation that she expressed sharply when she came to write of her brother's death...

I could hear the water lapping almost at my heels, a flood tide rushing to glut the river. It rises and it falls, that flood, and in time it will have the barbastrelle and the brown-eared bat; it will have the Oak Eggar and the Garden Tiger; it will have the peregrine and the clattering jacks.
