This prompt fits perfectly with one of my quirky interests I don‘t know exactly why I am interested in this subject matter. #maid #CharacterCharm

(Oh! This is for tomorrow. At least, I‘m early! )

This was at times a little tedious, but there are some interesting thoughts in here. #authoramonth #14books14weeks

I‘ll be honest, I have no idea what I read - I just know Woolf‘s style isn‘t for me. So much double speak and description of minutiae for no real reason. Only one of the stories in this collection was enjoyable to me…but even then its point felt confused. #AuthorAMonth

Bailedbailed

I tried Virginia Woolf for the first time and she is definitely not for me. I hope other #AuthorAMonth readers have better luck!

TheBookHippie 🙃 I adore her. Sorry it didn‘t work for you. 1mo
Soubhiville @TheBookHippie It‘s ok! I‘ve found so many other authors through #AAM, there‘s bound to be one that misses every once in a while. 📚🙂 (edited) 1mo
Sace I feel better seeing this. I‘ve spent today debating whether to bail or not. I might give her one more day, but I‘ve been struggling with her. 1mo

ChaoticMissAdventures I liked her Mrs Dalloway, but her racism has always been an issue with me and I have struggled to get into any others. 1mo
Soubhiville @Sace I felt like the language was too dense. I was trying so hard to understand what she meant that it wasn‘t enjoyable at all. Did people ever talk like this or was she trying to make her works somewhat inaccessible? I‘d love to hear theories. 1mo
AmyG Yeah, I read one of her books, forgot which one, but she is not for me either. 1mo
Gissy I think the same. I will try some books I own but I don‘t feel that passion for her writing style as other people do🤷🏽‍♀️There are authors and writing style for every reader🙌📚 1mo

I really enjoyed this glimpse into the rural life of VW and her fellow authors.

🌿 What did you think of the biography?

🌿 Did the accounts of VW's contemporaries, Townsend-Warner & Lehmann, help give context into her world?

All welcome to join in. Please let me know if you wish to be added/removed from the taglist.

TheBookHippie I like rounding her out so to speak with all the differing books and letters and witnesses to her life. Give context to a complex person I think. 2mo

AllDebooks @TheBookHippie I thought so. I'm glad you thought the same. I was worried about adding this to the buddy read list as only a third of it is about VW. However, I'm glad I did as it was quite a different pov of her. 2mo
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks I think so too. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It‘s good to see all sides I think. 2mo
PurpleyPumpkin I had a bit trouble getting my hands on this book. But I was able to order a copy from Britain and just received it! I will read it shortly and then circle back to your questions. I‘m looking forward to this one! 2mo
