Caps for Sale is a classic story that is TL, this story captivates students. This story is about a peddler who sells caps, then one day he decides to take a nap under a tree full of monkeys. Who end up taking his caps and monkeying around with them. Then the peddler realizes that they are mimicking him, so he tricks them into giving him his caps back. Such a cute and funny story to do as a S or DR. #UCFLAE3414F17

This a different look on TL of the three little pigs. This time told from the other side, the wolf's side of the story. This a funny new take on the old story, this would be a great RT. Mehso-so

This is a great NF of how bubble gum was invented. Gum which has been around for centuries, till 1928 when an accountant at a candy store decided to perfect different recipes. This is a good IR, for any student who is interested in NF and bubble gum. #UCFLAE3414F17

The Mitten written by Jan Brett, is a TL book that is from a Ukrainian folktale. This book is about a boy named Nikki who wants his Grandmother to knit him a mitten as white as the snow. Then Nikki loses his mitten and the different animals seek shelter in it from the cold. Till the mouse tickled the bear's nose, which made him sneeze. Then all the animals fly out of the mitten and at the end Nikki finds his mitten. #UCFLAE3414F17

This SF novel by James Dashner is a thriller, I was constantly on my toes. This novel is about Thomas who lost all his memories and who gets put into what the others call Glade. But when the frist girl ever gets put into the Glade, their world starts to change. Realizing there is only one way out the Glade and that is to go through the Maze. Very interesting book, can't wait to read the next one in the series. #UCFLAE3414F17

This is a great NF book, this would be a good RA to do before a science or math lesson. Actual size is about the measurements of animals shown at their actual sizes and how they relate to us. #UCFLAE3414F17

cheyennewilliams I have personally used this in the classroom and I think it's a great pick! It's super engaging for students and they love the fact that the illustrations are life size. It's perfect for introducing students to animals from around the world without ever having to leave the classroom. It also provides great facts and references in the back of the book that could be utilized for a research project for older students. 7y

An adorable F story, that is sure to make you laugh. It is about a group of the scariest monsters around who get prepared to scare the kids on Halloween. But when a not so scary creature wants to join the club, the other monsters laugh. They quickly find out who is the scariest of all. Ethan Long is a great person to do AS on. #UCFLAE3414F17

This is a great NF book since Thanksgiving is right around the corner. This is a great S book to read at thanksgiving because it tells you the story about this puppeteer named Tony Sarg. It goes through all that it takes to be a puppeteer of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Winner of Orbis Pictus Award and the Sibert Medal. #UCFLAE3414F17

A HF book that takes place in 1967 and Holing Hoodhood is a middle school boy that deals with daily problems like Mrs. Baker. Who has him spending Wednesday afternoons with her. This book talks about historical events like the Veitnam war and MLK's death while having the funny day too day life of a 7th grader. A Newberry honor winner. Also a great IR. #UCFLAE3414F17

Written by Dan Santat, Beekle is a F book that is so sweet. Beekle is about a unimaginary friend that hasn't found his friend to imagine him yet. So he goes on adventure to find a friend to imagine him. Spoiler alert, he does at the end and it is so sweet. A Caldecott honor award, also I would use this as a GR or RA. Plus I love the back of this book, it's so cute! #UCFLAE3414F17

The Giver by Lois Lowry, is a SF novel. A good LC book. It's about this boy named Jonas who lives in a perfect society. Finally he reaches the age where he his given a job, his job is to be given the memories of their past society. He then realizes he lives in a society that covers up things. I am not a fan of the ending, so I'll leave it at that. Newberry winner

MadisonCarter I think this was a book that I was forced to IR in middle school, which of course made me not want to, therefore I have no recollection of the story. Your comments about the ending are making me so curious that I want to pick it up right now. 7y
ashley.v I read this book in middle school and did not like the ending either, though I understand why he left. I remember seeing other books, but I don't believe that they continue the story. 7y
juliek1 I feel like I was the only student in my class who really liked this book, back when we read it in middle school. I loved the characters, the vivid descriptions, and just the writer's overall style. The ending didn't bother me - it left so much to the imagination, and I kind of appreciated that. In any case, good pick! 7y

CourtneyR Oops meant to. This story is about cows that live on Mr. Brown's farm, that are fed up and want better working conditions. So they type up a letter and put it on the barn door. Then the other animals decide they want to get into the action. Such a funny story to read and do/watch a RT on. 7y
