Wow! This was my September #BOTM pick and I loved it! 5 stars- I couldn‘t stop reading about Ophelia and her sister Genevieve as they enter a devils competition called Phantasma. 9 levels of games with deadly consequences and a charming stranger who makes Ophelia a bargain she can‘t turn down.

This was my June BOTM pick and was a fast paced mystery with a surprising (at least to me) mid novel plot twist. Perfect for summer beach reading. I really enjoyed it!

I‘m obsessed with the Netflix series and can‘t wait for Eloise‘s season so I peeked ahead and read the book. I love the actresses portrayal of Eloise- she‘s so feisty and sassy. Her book does not disappoint. Now I‘ll have to binge the whole Bridgerton series!

Another solid read by Ana Huang. This is book 4 in the Kings of Sin series and tells us about rich playboy Xavier and his publicist, Sloane. Xavier is jolted out of his usual lifestyle when his dad dies and he has to prove himself to earn his inheritance. It brought in alot of the couples from previous books which was nice to see. A good beach read. #SummerReading.

Another great read by Abby Jimenez. It‘s the first book in the PART OF YOUR WORLD series and follows Alexis and Daniel. It‘s an opposites attract romance where city girl physician, Dr Alexis Montgomery meets small town mayor Daniel Grant when a raccoon runs in front of her and she lands her car in a ditch. In comes our hero to tow her out and they begin their journey. She doesn‘t think he fits in her world but she slides easily into his. *****

Mehso-so

A classic mystery from Agatha Christie featuring Miss Marple. She is visiting an old school friend when a murder occurs. I did like this book but I prefer the Hercule Poirot mysteries. I felt that this dragged on the middle and I had problems keeping the cast of characters straight. But overall a solid read. I gave it 3 stars

A wonderfully magical book about 2 women separated by decades. Opaline is in 1921 fleeing her brother‘s attempts to arrange her marriage. Martha is our present day narrator fleeing an abusive husband. They are connected by a magical bookshop which appears then disappears. I very much enjoyed this book and it felt like a warm hug to all those who love literature. Even the dedication was special. “TO ALL THE BOOK LOVERS”

5 stars

Searching for Khloe | Susan Stoker

Pickpick

This was the last book in the EAGLE POINT SERIES (book7). All the couples appear in this book so I‘d recommend reading it in order. This story focuses on veterinarian Khloe who is hiding out in a small town in Virginia. She tries to keep her distance from the town and her grumpy boss, Raiden. But when his dog is hurt, she breaks her cover to save him and her secrets are revealed. I really liked this book and it wrapped up the series nicely.

Powerless is a YA fantasy taking place in a world where a plague gifted you with a super power ( making you an Elite) or didn‘t (keeping you ordinary). Paeden is an ordinary who makes her living being a thief. She robs Kai, the prince and enforcer of the kingdom but also saves him. This brings her an invite to a competition with Kai and other Elites. I did enjoy this book and look forward to the next.

This was such a heartwarming story about 3 sisters with special gifts who have grown apart after a childhood tragedy. Now adults, they struggle through past traumas, present day challenges and hope for a magical future. It‘s a beautiful cover and inside is an even more beautiful and captivating story. Give this one a try. I had hoped that each sister had a book but not yet. Maybe soon?

Ice: A Novel | Linda Howard
post image
Pickpick

This is an oldie that I picked up at a used book sale. I used to love reading Linda Howard and thought I‘d give this a try. An ice storm traps Lolly in her mountain home and the local sheriff sends Gabriel to warn her. When he arrives, he finds her in the middle of a home invasion. A quick read (less than 200 pages) about their survival against the villains and the Ice/snow. I‘d probably recommend reading this in the winter!!

This was my April 2024 BOTM pick. I enjoyed this thriller/ mystery about the unsolved murder of Savvy, a young woman who was discovered bludgeoned to death. Everyone suspected her best friend, Lucy, of killing her but there wasn‘t enough proof. Now, years later a true crime podcaster is reopening the case. I liked the podcast form which made for short fast chapters. I gave it 4 stars. #BOTM. #CurrentlyReading. #ListenForTheLie.

The Island | Natasha Preston

This book was very similar to Agatha Christie‘s classic “And then there were none” but updated and modernized. There are 6 teenage influencers on an island and they start dying. There are a lot of twists and secrets and was on its way to being a 5star read for me until THE ENDING. To say it was abrupt is an understatement. I still would recommend it and have it 4 stars. I‘m wondering what other readers feel about it??? #theisland

Just for the Summer | Abby Jimenez

A great summery read of two people who are right for each other but seemingly meet at the wrong time in their lives. Emma and Justin plan to date and breakup but somewhere in the weeks of dating, they really connect. Justin is such a caring man whose love language is acts of kindness from bringing her lunch and caring for her when she is sick. I just loved him! This was my April #BOTM pick and it was a winner.

I loved this book!! It‘s my first book by Abby Jimenez and it was such an emotional, funny and touching read. Briana and Jacob are 2 ER doctors who do NOT have a meet cute moment. Briana is reeling from a bad divorce and dealing with a sick brother. Jacob suffers from anxiety. The way they find love is too adorable. 5 STARS. #YoursTruly. #BOTM

I thought this was such a fun and quick read- I read it in a day! Two shifter doctors that agree to fake date so that Noah can get promoted and Mackenzie can avoid her grandmother‘s match making. It has all my favorite tropes:

Grumpy- sunshine
Workplace romance
Fake dating

Noah gets super possessive of her especially when other men are around and their scenes are SPICY. I‘m new to the Omegaverse but can‘t wait to read more!

I enjoyed this middle grade book about 3 best friends (Sarah, West and Hannah) who break into an abandoned funhouse in search of a hidden treasure. Each room is filled with clues, puzzles and secret doors that must be solved to advance deeper into the house.

I think my 8 year old nephew would like it. He‘s a reader who is reading the Percy Jackson books right now and this would be a fun book for his next read.
