My 1st grader's amazing teacher recommended books by Margaret Hillert to help with building up fluency and motivation. Both my K and 1 are in love with this book and "Tom Thumb". Picked them up at UCF's CMC and I see the Orange County Library system has a great collection. I will be there in the morning! Great for sight word practice, motivation and fluency.
One resolution for the new year is reading every book my kids read along with them. My son's first choice for the new year. He is way ahead of me so far.
This was in the stack at the Dr's office so I read it to my youngest two while waiting. Sometimes The selection can be hit or miss, but you can tell someone donated some GREAT books recently! This book was another interesting nonfiction read by Steve Jenkins that explores animals. It is fun having students guess the animals based on the features given and it is harder than it looks on some pages! This is a book that I own a very used copy of. This little house has seen it all. I went from sitting in the beautiful country, to being smashed in the congested city! Fantasy? I pick this genre because although everything else in the book can really happen, houses do not think or have feelings in real life. This was a book that I remember reading in my 4th grade class. It was fun reading it over again and seeing it available through ebook. This is about a dog and a cat who are investigating a new pet. A bunny who happens to make all his vegetables white. Must be a vampire bunny!
