Franklin was preparing well for Valentine‘s Day but on his way to school the cards must have dropped out because his mother found them in a puddle. Also, Pete learns about the Pilgrims back then. He realizes that he is so thankful for what they did for all of us. In the end it asks “What are you thankful for?”
The Magic School Bus: Inside a Hurricane by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen is about a class that takes trips based off what they are learning about in school. In this book, the are learning about weather so they took the magic school bus into the eye of a hurricane to learn more about it. Froggy‘s First Kiss by Johnathan London, Illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz is about Froggy who made it seem like he liked Frogalina- turns out that he made a Valentines Day card on it that said “I️ Love You” and it was for his mom. We figured that out in the story after Frogalina got the wrong impression and kissed Froggy at lunch one day. Good read for Valentines Day.
Sign it, Say it, written by Elaine Epstein, Illustrated by Mary O‘Keefe Young is about a girl, Sonya, who is deaf being able to communicate with a little boy, Todd who says what she signs. This books shows/ demonstrated signs throughout the book. #ucflae3414f17

Leak is about a baby raccoon that doesn‘t want to leave his mom to go to school but she kisses his hand and tells him that she will always be with him wherever he goes. This story shows that you have to do things that you don‘t always want to do. Also, it shows that love stays with you.
The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School by Deborah Diesen, pictures by Dan Hanna is about a fish who gets motivation. It‘s all about you CAN do it. The Pout-Pout fish was negative but became more confident. Moral of the story is that you can‘t be great at everything especially if you haven‘t ever tried it before.
How full is your bucket? For Kids written by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer, Illustrated by Maurice J. Manning is about a boy who in the end understands that everyone has bad days and we can change each others days by doing something nice and helping each other out.
Dear Dear by Gene Barrera is a great story of homophones. This story is all about a dear writing to an ant about his ‘neighbors‘ at the zoo. It‘s all about the types of animals and homophones that go with each of them.
If You Take a Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff, Illustrated by Felicia Bond is about a greedy mouse that states all the things that he does when you take him to school. This book would be a great storytelling book.
Hey, Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose, Illustrated by Debbie Tilley is about a boy who wants to squash an ant but doesn‘t know if he should. It‘s all about making your own decisions. A good activity for this would be to ask the students whether or not they would squash the ant or leave them alone. Have them write about it.
