Turkey Trouble

Turkey is in trouble. Bad trouble. The kind of trouble where it's almost Thanksgiving . . . and you're the maincourse. But Turkey has an idea--what if he doesn't look like a turkey? What if he looks like another animal instead? After many hilarious attempts, Turkey comes up with the perfect disguise to make this Thanksgiving the best ever! Wendi Silvano's comical story is perfectly matched by Lee Harper's watercolors.

Florence‘s class made their own Thanksgiving cookbook. Florence‘s turkey recipe may be indicative of psychopathic tendencies. 😆 🦃

mabell Very practical! And I never would have thought of using a microwave - a much speedier way to Thanksgiving dinner! 😂 5y

📖tagged—delightful picture book about a Turkey out trying different disguises because if he doesn‘t look like a turkey, maybe he won‘t end up being the main course!

🎞Sleepy Hallow—makes me think of autumn, chilly evenings, leaves rattling in the wind, stories told by the fire... (also appropriate for Halloween feels as well)

🎼Undone—The Sweater Song (Weezer)—because this time of year is sweater weather & I love it!

Perfect book for Thanksgiving!

This turkey does not want to be the farmer‘s Thanksgiving dinner so she tries on different disguises. Surely the farmer wouldn‘t eat a horse!

Very silly costumes as the turkey attempts to disguise himself before Thanksgiving.

Here‘s a peak at my cheese and cracker platter from my Friendsgiving dinner last night! Had a little turkey inspiration...

I read this cute children's book tonight to get in the #? Day spirit. (Even though I'll be cooking our traditional "salmon" dinner!?) And this little guy sure had some pretty wild disguises and inventive ideas to survive another Thanksgiving. Fun read!
So grateful for our cool community here on Litsy. Thanks for all the inspiration and laughs! Happy Thanksgiving and hugs to all! ??

TheBookAddict Awww, the librarian at the preschool I work at just read that book for our class. 🦃 🍁 7y
MemoirsForMe @TheBookAddict Great choice for your kids! 😊🙌🏻 7y
TheBookAddict @UwannaPublishme yes! She also read one for Halloween and it had the same turkey and farm animals, so I‘m guessing it‘s a series of books. I‘m thinking of looking for them so I can give them as gifts and to keep a set for myself. 7y

Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano, Illustrated by Lee Harper is about a turkey hat wanted to impersonate other animals because he didn‘t want to be eaten for Thanksgiving. #ucflae3414f17

CourtneyR This looks like such a great story to read, especially with Thanksgiving coming up. It might be good to go over some vocabulary. EL 5. Teach technical vocabulary and key concepts, would be a good ESOL strategy to use. 7y
Madiwright97 https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Turkey-Trouble-Thanksgiving-Activiti... Great for second graders, lots of fun activities that students will enjoy. 7y
Madiwright97 @CourtneyR you‘re right! The vocab and key concepts would be very smart to go over for the EL students! :) 7y
