Exciting
Another collection of Gods Behaving Badly. I enjoyed these Norse tales and Gaiman brilliantly narrates his own book. It ties in neatly with The Witch‘s Heart, too. The myths are brutal and violent. Thor‘s an idiot. Loki is…Loki - a sneaky, narcissistic, trickster. I do rather love Freya and Hel, though. A little slow in spots, but overall a fun listen.
5â I recently listened to Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman, and it was an absolute delight. I'll be honest and say that I'm not sure if I would have loved it this much if I hadn't been listening to it, though I still would have enjoyed it a lot. But Gaiman is a master oral storyteller. His voice was made for narration, and there is a playfulness that comes through when he is telling these myths that kept me hanging on his every word.
A telling of Norse Mythology that was captivating. The audiobook is narrated by Neil Gaiman who always makes the read even MORE interesting with his range of voices for the characters.
My bookclubs pick of the month!! This is somewhat outside my reading comfort zone but I think this will be a great book! I love the Avengers and I'm excited to see where some of the characters were inspired!
Also my local library gave me a free muffin. Heck yes. 💯
I learned 2 things from this book:
1) it's ALWAYS Loki's fault! & 2) Thor's a ginger?!?! Lol
This audiobook was very interesting. It's amazing just how similar the stories are to the Greek stories. This picture is from freya's unusual wedding. Very weird names, there is no way I could remember most of them. I give it 4.5 outta 5 🌟
I loved this one so much that I read it twice when it came out in 2017. I read it in print and then again on audio. I've always loved mythology and Gaiman's playful retellings are a delight. Readers will recognize the trickster Loki, clever Odin, and strong (and a bit dim) Thor. Rereading it a third time, the book has not lost its charm. Highly recommended, especially if you are already a fan or the author.
âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸Thank you Mr. Gaiman for entertaining me with these amazing stories! Long live Loki 💚
No matter how many times I read this, it‘s still super enjoyable like reading it again for the first time. I find new things that I pick up on with each read. Being a huge Norse Mythology fan helps too.

This is a very late #sundaysoapbox post, but here are two covers I adore. Unfortunately the photos don't do them justice but they are so pretty, I sometimes take them off the shelf just to look at them ðŸ˜
Thanks for tagging me Sherri @Eggs 💕
Okay, this was fun. I love the interpretation that Neil gave. I am familiar with the stories. I loved it.
The #8thBookof2021 is Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. The audiobook is narrated by the author and is very entertaining! âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ !! #12Booksof2021
Neil Gaiman read the book himself, giving you the author's own thoughts. Ok, but not really anything new or different. Interesting though, how flawed and silly the gods seem.

Progress Report for #NeilGaimanNovember
Books Read: 3
Currently Reading: Norse Mythology
Neil Gaiman is such a wonderful author and I'm glad I decided to do this for November. So far, the books are amazing
(Side Goal: I have about 9+ books that I need to review. Hopeful I'll get those done by the end of the year)
Here‘s my review for a book I just finished listening to. I‘ve had this book on my Goodreads TBR since November 3, 2016 and I finally got around to reading it this month. I‘m counting this book for 1 reading challenge.

Today, I‘m sharing my reading progress for the audiobook I‘m currently listening to. I‘m hoping to listen to more of it later on tonight. This book is narrated by the author and it‘s good so far.
I finished The Greed by Scott Bergstrom today and I‘ve decided to start listening to Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. It‘s good so far. I‘m sharing a screenshot of when I added this book to my Goodreads TBR. I forgot that I added this book on there because I have so many books on there. It‘s interesting. I didn‘t know that I had this book on my Goodreads TBR for 5 years. That‘s a long time.
This was a fun audiobook to experience while riding my bike 😊 🚴
In Norse Mythology, Gaiman stays true to the myths in envisioning the major Norse pantheon:
• Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning;
• Thor, Odin‘s son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods;
• Loki—son of a giant—blood brother to Odin and a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator.

Captivating and often hilarious. Neil Gaiman never disappoints.
#ConflictedWorlds Day 26: #PersonVsGods - While it had Gaiman‘s usual strangenesses, this was a bit tempered and a little more intimate than usual. He seemed to be beckoning the reader closer so that he can whisper to your ear alone tales of giants and dwarves, gods and demons, dregs and treasures. Read this in 2017 while family and I were on our way to Norway from Munich. More here with Litsy mentioned: https://wp.me/pDlzr-fQI
Just finished listening to the audiobook version of this book. How I enjoy listening to Neil Gaiman! And, of all the Marvel characters, Thor is my favorite. The description of the book said he was powerful but not the brightest, but I enjoy his adventures anyway. And Loki - what a mischief-maker! As you can tell, I really enjoyed this book! #104 #BookSpinBingo 24 #BFC21 #6 #TAILSandTSLESforADULTS #31 #THEROYALREADATHON HSREADATHON
We adopted our one-eyed dog back in November. We call him Odie so most people assume it‘s from Garfield. But his full name is Odin, which is for obvious reasons and also a shout-out to my husband‘s Icelandic heritage. Really looking forward to this read. Everything Neil Gaiman does is excellent.

Everything I know about Norse mythology comes from Marvel, Almighty Johnson‘s or Assassins Creed: Valhalla. That being said, I feel like this is a good primer. Some familiar character and stories mixed with some new ones. Plenty of Loki.
I audiobooked this and Gaiman‘s narration was superb, and reminiscent of oral storytelling due to the format of the tales.

Continuing on with my current obsession with Norse mythology thanks to The Witch's Heart, I finally picked up Neil Gaiman's book, and this may be just my favorite mythology book of all time. Neil has a way of imbuing magic in his works, and that is certainly more pronounced here.

This book was amazing.
It‘s small tales, which is super easy to read, about the old Norse myths, myths whom we see everyday in modern fiction. If you‘re a marvel fan then you‘ll definitely like it because they mention a lot of these myths in mcu.
I really recommend it if you‘re already interested in Norse Mythology or if you‘re just now getting into it.

Loki: Odin‘s blood brother, the son of Farbauti and of Laufey. The shrewdest, most cunning of all the inhabitants of Asgard. He is a shapeshifter, and his lips are scarred. He has shoes that allow him to walk in the sky.
#NorseMythology #Loki
“Loki was handsome and he knew it. People wanted to like him, they wanted to believe him, but he was undependable and self-centered at best, mischievous or evil at worst.â€
Gotta love Loki. #NorseMythology #Loki
“Becauseâ€, said Thor, “when something goes wrong, the first thing that I always think is, it is Loki‘s fault. It saves me a lot of time.â€

5/5 âï¸ I was only familiar with norse gods from the perspective of the Marvel universe, so it was great to get an idea of where they originally come from. My favorite was Loki, which is fitting since his show starts tomorrow on Disney+ 💚

I listened to Norse Mythology narrated by Neil Gaiman. He writes the stories with passion and fervor, hoping they'll spark the reader's desire to personalize and retell them. The novel should be edited so the stories aren't just told in a list format. âââ
#TBRPile 📚â€Before the beginning there was nothing - no heavens, no stars, no sky: only the mist world, formless and shapeless, and the fire world, always burning.â€
Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView
1- I'm not sure, probably Hades.
2- tagged I love Loki 💚

As we visit the next museum on Bygdøy, it may help to recall the old Norse myths. How did the mythology for such a small country with such a small population come to last so long and have such an impact? #Norway #foodandlit @Butterfinger @Catsandbooks @AnneCecilie
âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ I enjoyed hearing the different mythological stories told by Mr. Gaiman. Kept my attention.

I LOVED The Introduction. The Players tells of the upcoming characters & was very interesting, it made me stop & listen. I was captivated.
The 15 or so stories were all wonderfully told! I loved the Thor/Loki stories. I added to my Audible/Amazon wishlists. I‘ll definitely revisit here! TY Hoopla!
As he read the Thor/Loki stories you know the Marvel characters were in my head playing out the stories.

Neil Gaiman‘s book of Norse mythology is simply perfect, everything about it is fascinating, attention grasping, and just out right amazing. His writing of the story‘s are very well illustrated and he is very good at informing the reader of new characters and objects, I very much recommend this book if you like mythology or fantasy books.
Really enjoyed these short stories and learning about the origin of so many myths. LOVE the way Neil Gaiman told these stories. I feel the way he voiced the characters made me even more interested in it. So far I‘m 2/2 on the books I‘ve read/listened to from him so I‘m planning on giving more of his books a chance.
I'm also having a late #wondrouswednesday 🥴
(1) Norse Mythology has the prettiest cover I can think of, it's also lovely to touch, but sadly I don't have my own copy.
(2) I think Will from About a Boy would make a good friend.
(3) Austenland, to my sister. She's seen the film but hasn't read the book, I'm the other way around.

Really enjoyed this book. Now we just need Gaiman to write some other mythologies
