I don't know why, but I just can't seem to get behind this series. I adore Jemisin's writing, and the lore in this series is rich and deep, and yet I just don't feel compelled to know more about any of the characters or the world. It has not gripped me the way that the Inheritance Trilogy did.

Call Down the Hawk is a story about dreams. The weight of dreams, the consequences of bringing your dreams to life, and why dreams are worth fighting for, and also why they are dangerous under the wrong control. It is the most powerful piece of literature I have ever read, even if I can't get the rest of the world to read it. But that‘s ok. It‘s not for the rest of the world. This book is for the dreamers.

This. BOOK. Is. Better. Than. Frozen. By which I mean better than kids think frozen is. This book is so beautiful and perfect and culturally rich and I just can't. It's very woman centered in a way that I think men should really read. Please read this book.

This book made a lot of really good points regarding race and class and for that it will always be an important novel in the canon, but in my opinion it drips with misogyny and I am not a fan of misogynist literature.

American Pastoral | Philip Roth

The audio quality of this audiobook was incredibly inconsistent. All in all, this book was ok. I really like the way Roth writes, and I appreciate that it's not a story of "oh this man was so upset because his life was perfect" like so many other books I've read that were written by men of the same Era.

This book was absolutely amazing. I tag it for the #readingwomenchallenge and it was amazing. Shepherd is a brilliant and compelling writer and I can't recommend this book enough. A solid mystery, love story, fantastic tale.

This book was ok. It wasn't nearly half so good as the Secret History, but it's not a bad story. It just feels too slow and purposeless for the first 3/4 of the book for me to really love it.

I didn't want to read this book, but I needed to get it off my TBR pile because it's part of the #1001bookstoreadbeforeyoudie list. It's my last favorite Austen, and I honestly feel like Clueless did it better. Emma is a snob. Actually everyone in this book is kind of a snob. 2 stars.

I felt like this book was pretty repetitive. It was really great and interesting, but after chapter 10 it was just very much "OK, I get it now, do you have anything else to say?"

As a huge fan of Song of Achilles, I knew I had to read this book. It was wonderful, and definitely a great read, but if you're expecting something as good as Song of Achilles you will be sorely disappointed. The story isn't as compelling and the language is nowhere near as beautiful, but it's still well worth your time to read.

Murakami's first book was a great read. It was a little different from his later work, but it was so great.the magical realism is especially good in Pinball, and the whole meandering story is worth it for the one scene.

A little predictable, but a pretty decent time if you can get into westerns. Giod but not great. The story is interesting but the wiring does not wow. Not great for quotes.

I listened to the audiobook for this novel and I have to admit that I was not at all impressed. Some of the language was nice, but for the most part I felt like I read a book that didn't really deliver the promise I had come to expect.
