Or maybe, like me, you‘re a hopeless romantic. You just can‘t stop telling yourself the story. The one about your own life, complete with melodramatic soundtrack and golden light lancing through car windows.

His use of the past tense brings a kick of sadness. It‘s another reminder that my father is truly gone and not just on an extended trip somewhere. Grief is tricky like that. It can lie low for hours, long enough for magical thinking to take hold. Then, when you‘re good and vulnerable, it will leap out at you like a fun-house skeleton, and all the pain you thought was gone comes roaring back.
Time was much too short a word. And it got smaller still when you cut it down into countable hours, and then racing minutes, and finally into desperately minuscule seconds. Eventually, there was nothing left.
I struggled to get used to the writing style of this one, but I‘m enjoying the commentary on the legal profession and justice system
If Mocha isn‘t a purrfect book model, I don‘t know who is 😻 #cats
This book is AMAZING. We discussed it briefly in my bioethics seminar, but I was still shocked at how Henrietta and her family were treated. This book should be required reading for doctors, lawyers, and anyone who questions the disproportionate effect the medical system has on minority communities.
There were things I didn‘t love about this book—some of the characters infuriated me, and it felt a bit slow at times. Still, the setting—a corporate law department in the middle of a Me Too moment—felt real and relatable, and I think this book is an important read.
I feel like I have 43 billion things to do this week, but I‘m taking a few minutes to breathe by reading and watching reality tv.
But Ms. Sandberg was right about something. We had to lean in.
It was the only way to hear the whispers.
If only you‘d listened to us, none of this would have happened.
It is a common saying that women are delicate creatures, flowers, eggs, anything that may be crushed in a moment‘s carelessness. If I had ever believed it, I no longer did.
Brought three books for a 48 hour trip to visit my grandfather 😂
Home from school for Christmas break = relaxing in bed with a good book! 🎄
You always put out the books, she told me once. That‘s when it starts to feel like home.
Mocha loves to lay right next to me when I read in bed. Anyone else have a reading buddy? 🐱
This book made me feel seen. I have the same chronic illness as Chloe, and I have literally never related to a character more than I related to Chloe Brown. If you have any sort of chronic illness (or even if you don‘t), I can‘t recommend this book highly enough. It was funny, romantic, and honest. I couldn‘t put it down last night, and it‘s been a while since a book has made me feel like that!

Loving this adorable new bookmark I got in a book exchange!
I love when the cover of a book starts to make sense!
I really enjoyed this book! The setting was cool because it was a familiar yet different America; it was interesting to think about how a monarchy might have changed things. I generally liked the characters too, especially Samantha and Beatrice. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
Enjoying my spooky szn decorations while reading tonight!
This book was a super creative take on a romance. The love triangle between Holly, Nathan, and Marc was definitely a more traditional trope, but it didn't feel cliched. It was made more interesting by the original legacy game created by Shannon. This book made me wish that game was real because it sounded like a lot of fun! Available October 15, 2019.

Framed as a letter to her bff, this YA novel follows two month's of JL's sophomore year. JL was a very relatable character, and I thought the framed narrative-esque format worked well for this book. It made sense that, even though they'd been fighting, all JL wanted to do was confide in Aubrey about her family troubles, the fate of the butterflies, her relationship with Max, and, most of all, what happened to their friendship.

This book had some great twists. I liked that I really wasn't sure who the “bad guy“ was for most of the book .I also liked the flashbacks. I thought it was an interesting dynamic to add to the creepy history of the house. As Katie explored the house, the flashbacks started to make more sense and the suspense escalated. I would totally read a book that tells more about what was happening with the original family in the house.

I enjoyed this collection of short stories with feminist and horror themes. Feminist lit and horror work well together, especially in our current political climate. My personal faves were “What She Left Behind“ by E.R. Griffin and “Shadows“ by Demitria Lunetta. This is a great way to get your feet wet in horror. Most of the stories aren't super gory. A lot of them feel more psychological or supernatural in nature, which I love!

I thought that Damien Angelica Walters wrote about the melodrama of being twelve and the complexities that accompany preteen friendships with startling accuracy. The emotions that twelve-year-old Heather felt towards Becca and the other members of the Dead Girls Club were very realistic to me. On a more serious note, this book is an interesting take on what we, especially as children, are willing to believe when we're desperate.

Thank you to #netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book!
I really enjoyed this book! I thought Leslie, Robin, and Mary were complex characters that I was eager to know more about. I thought the beginning was a little slow, but once I started to learn about the characters' backstories, the tension started to amplify and I got much more caught up in the story. I totally didn't see the twists at the end coming AT ALL! Definitely recommend.
Me: *has 4 million things to do because it‘s the first week of my last year of law school*
Also me: *shamelessly downloads 10 ARCs on #netgalley*
Olive is helping me read tonight! Why do cats and books go so well together?
Borrowed this one from my fave cousin and I‘m super excited to start it! I‘ve heard such great things about this author 😊
I have such a backlog of books on my Kindle app, so that‘s what I‘ve been working on recently! They‘ve been hit or miss, but so far I‘m enjoying this one (especially compared to the last one I finished)
Taking a break from my usual genres to read this absolutely delightful book! I‘m loving it SO much!

First of this round of library books--done! This was a quick read and it was pretty enjoyable...I mean, as enjoyable as a book about a misogynistic dystopia can be.
