Lock Every Door
Lock Every Door: A Novel | Riley Sager
The next heart-pounding thriller from New York Times bestselling author Riley Sager follows a young woman whose new job apartment sitting in one of New Yorks oldest and most glamorous buildings may cost more than it pays. No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsens new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. Recently heartbroken and just plain broke, Jules is taken in by the splendor of her surroundings and accepts the terms, ready to leave her past life behind. As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid, who comfortingly, disturbingly reminds her of the sister she lost eight years ago. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems and the dark history hidden beneath its gleaming facade is starting to frighten her, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story . . . until the next day, when Ingrid disappears. Searching for the truth about Ingrids disappearance, Jules digs deeper into the Bartholomew's dark past and into the secrets kept within its walls. Her discovery that Ingrid is not the first apartment sitter to go missing at the Bartholomew pits Jules against the clock as she races to unmask a killer, expose the buildings hidden past, and escape the Bartholomew before her temporary status becomes permanent.

Wowww! I thought I had the ending figured out halfway through... no of course it had a little twist but still the same “situation”. First book I read by Riley, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyday I would come home from work, eat and read as much as I could. Crazy work week ugh. But worth itttt!

While I thought his last two books were overhyped, I found this one to be a lot of fun. A young woman down on her luck moves into an exclusive Manhattan building as an "apartment sitter" for $1000 a week. Seems too good to be true, right? That's because it is. Bwhahhahahaaaa!

It was just okay. Didn't dislike it, just never really got sucked in. It took too long for the tension to really ramp up, and then after the big reveal, it felt rushed. 🤷

Fast paced, though I am disappointed that we never know what happened to a particular character till the end, I am thoroughly satisfied with the ending. Must read book in this genre. Would love to see this in the movie format.

The first 15 pages of this book damn near gave me a panic attic, just from the atmosphere of the setting! A down-on-her-luck 20-something moves into a beautiful high-rise apartment building in NYC to be paid 4 grand a month as an apartment sitter. She finds that the apartment sitters are going missing. This kept me on my toes, as there were a lot of options about what could be happening! I liked the ending a lot.

"I nudge my way through them, jealous of their youth, their happiness, their drama and chatter. Life hasn't touched them yet. Not real life."

Quick paced & kept my interest the entire time. I read the book in a day and was on the edge of my seat more than a few times. A couple parts were slightly predictable but the ending was great, a twist I didn't see coming. I definitely recommend this book & will be reading more Riley Sager in the future.

Holy COW! This book was magnificent. I am astonished at how good this book was. What a spooky psychological thriller... Each and ever character plays a role in the intricate well woven story that Riley Sanger has created. I loved this book and the way time was used in the book to tie the whole story together. #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick #Book11

3/4 worth of boring with a decent ending. Not sure if was worth the struggle to finish but I did think it was a solid final push. If this book was a cat, I would obviously adopt it but it would not be my favourite.

I enjoyed this thriller. The protagonist was sympathetic and relatable, in a low place after losing her job and her boyfriend in the same day. She gets a “too good to be true” apartment-sitting job in an elite building full of secretive residents. The suspense kept me racing through until a red herring near the end that made me so angry that I wanted to stop reading. Luckily, I powered through and the real conclusion was much more satisfying.

vivastory This is my favorite Sager. I don't think he's necessarily getting better with each title since I liked Final Girls more than Last Time I Lied, but he's definitely autobuy author. He announced his next book is coming out in July next year. 1mo

Such a creepy #audiobook! But it is very different than many of these "domestic thrillers", and I'm happy about it. The setting, an old building in nyc, is central to the plot. If you're looking for an atmospheric, creepy novel for this month, I'd recommend this one. ?? also, pictured are my mom's beautiful flowers ? from next door.

This was a great thriller! I saw most of the reveals coming, though there were a few surprises thrown in, but what really made it great was the pacing. The suspense built so well that I actually stayed up late to finish this because I read it while home alone at night, and was scared to go to sleep before I got to the resolution. This would fit team slaughter‘s themes better, but I‘m glad it made it on my Oct reading list! #scarathlon #teamstoker
