This really was worth reading but also a bit demanding book to read.

The world and atmosphere were so much more appealing in this book than in the first installment.

Story was interesting and there were some thrilling moments as well. Pacing was a bit slow, especially during the first 50 % of the book.

This series is perfect for the #Haunted poison prompt! Throughout the first duology, the main character races against time to stop a cult that poisons the land and its otherworldly denizens with horrific human sacrifices. (This is one of my favorites, and it's by a colorado local author!)

I'm a few days behind because my WiFi has been out and my phone service is terrible without it. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

It's not so much a sequel to "Flesh and Spirit" as it is the conclusion of a two-volume novel. The hero develops, the world expands, secrets are revealed, and the villains turn out to have more depth than I'd credited them. It's satisfying enough that nits aren't worth picking, and I'll read more Carol Berg.

1. Latest book purchase was a haul of about a dozen next-in-series paperbacks from Better World Books. Tagged was the one I was most interested in.

2. I read while I walk the dog. ("Don't you run into things?" I'm sometimes asked. Well, duh, but I run into things when I'm *not* reading too so ...)

3. "Word Crimes" by Weird Al. I'm not proud of being a grammar nag but I do embrace it.

I enjoyed this more than Flesh and Spirit. Carol Berg has some excellent twists and turns in this series, as well as some highly satisfying character development. I love the magic and spirits in these books as well. I'm currently working on a reread of this one. #coloradoauthor #fantasy #magic #nature #spirit #earthspirit

Took me several years to finish this. Had to start over. Very plodding.

Nice to see a main fantasy character who actually likes good conversation and being surrounded by people. Fantasy main characters tend to be loner bookish types with only a couple friends. Conservation of detail.

I'm still working on this book a friend leant me. I like it better than the first in the series, I'm really not sure why it's taking me so long to get through it... about halfway there. Then moving on to something scary for #scaretober. Any suggestions?

BookishFeminist That is a crowded bed 😂 7y
Soubhiville @BookishFeminist it is a bit crowded... once the lights go out the dog gets down to her own bed. But the cats snuggle all night. 7y

Bette Do you cats get cold? They always intrigue me. ❤️🐱😊 7y
Bette Your. Duh. Your cats. 😋 7y
Soubhiville @Bette yes they get chilly, but they burrow under blankets and snuggle together. Also, I tend to be cold natured, so I keep the temperature in my home between 75-80 F. 7y
Bette I've wanted one, but it's cold here. They're beautiful so I appreciate the glimpses. Thanks. 👍🐱❤️ 7y
Soubhiville @Bette of course! Just for fun, look at my breeder's page- No Coat Kitty. She's in NJ. It's possible to have them in cold climes, you just have to keep your place warmish and put sweaters on them 😊 7y
Bette Just read about how your breeder started out. I had no idea there were so many colors and different ears. Thanks! 7y

I've got a little time to start this before I go to work... Second in a series lent to me by a friend. I had to put it off for a couple weeks while I caught up on some library books.
