Saving Red | 
so-soThis is a story told in verse about a young girl whose family has experienced trauma and loss, trying to help a homeless girl get back to her own family. It was okay, but I wasn‘t really engaged. It has a nice message—that homeless people have histories and families that love them and we should never forget that. I expected a certain level of lyricism from the verse, but it was lacking. The reveal about Molly‘s family is handled well.
pickOddly, there were a lot of similarities between this one and The Chaos of Standing Still. The main characters struggle with anxiety that stems from past traumatic events. They both meet great guys who are accepting of their quirks. And they both are on a mission. In this one, Molly meets a homeless girl named Red and is determined to get her back to her family by Christmas. This one was written in verse form.
pickI enjoy books like this that are written in different ways. This author does it in poetry. Saving Red deals with the topic of mental illness. I think it did a great job at showing the outsider's view of the chaos but also shows the other side when it's not as strong.
pickA perfect novel for anyone who loves someone that is mentally ill! I'm growing to really appreciate books written in verse. Now I know why my students love this one.
We have been out of school now for 8 weeks. Yesterday the students were allowed back into the building, socially distanced of course, to gather personal belongings from their locker. I supervised a good portion of the day and spent some time in my classroom straightening up. These are the books I rescued from my classroom bookshelves for summer reading. Where should I start? #teachersoflitsy
pickLiterally didn‘t have the book at home so if your wondering, which you probably are,😂 this book is called saving red😂 it‘s one of my all time favourite novel in verse books, and might be one of my favourite books in general! I would definitely suggest to almost everyone.

Molly and her service dog, Pixel, go everywhere together.
They meet a homeless girl and Molly decides to help Red by reuniting her with her family for Christmas. Molly thinks helping Red will let her deal with her guilt over the bad thing that Molly did to destroy her family.
Molly also meets handsome, sensitive Cristo, and they fall in love at first sight. (Ugh.)

I just wanted to share because it struck me how similar these covers are. (I haven't read either of these yet, but a student told me Saving Red was good. It's written in verse.)
