How do you not love how this book is written? So personable. Also I love that it is a person involved but not a camp survivor. Ugh. Giving this book to everyone.

Somehow I regrettably missed this one for my #Top21Of2021 , but this was my best read in #March .
Gies, one of the group of Otto Frank‘s employees who helped the Frank family as they lived in the Annex, tells the heartbreaking story of her time with the Franks and the moment that they were discovered. A remarkable story and personally one I think should be read with Anne Frank‘s diary. #12BooksOf2021
I am so glad I finally took the opportunity to read Gies‘ account of her and her fellow comrades as they helped to hide the Frank family and others, not to mention the other amazingly brave things this woman did. A different glance into Anne and her family, and the new afterword sheds further light into the truths versus the fabrications. Absolutely riveting and a great companion piece to The Diary of Anne Frank. Letter A for #LitsyAtoZ
I've always so much love and respect for Miep.
She wrote with such love and elegance,
Her story should be as popular as Anne's.
I‘ve read her diary several times but this is the first time I‘m reading an account about Anne that she didn‘t write. I‘ve heard wonderful things about this book and I can‘t wait to give it a try! #mustread #annefrank #nonfiction #biography
Anne Frank Remembered is a story of courage, friendship and love. It is the story of Hermine "Miep" Gies, a Dutch citizen who hid Anne Frank and her family, and four other Jews from the Nazis during World War II. It is a heart-breaking yet uplifting story filled with so much hope and love. A must read!

Day 15 - #shepersisted - the story of Anne Frank is a heartbreaking one, but none of us would even know it without the help of Miep Gies. Miep drove around for hours every day scrounging for food, constantly putting herself in danger to help feed the Frank family and their friends. She is the one responsible for saving Anne's diary. She was truly an amazing person and what I would consider a true hero. #marchintoreading
These are the books I gave a 5 star rating in 2016. To be completely honest, I read Salt to the Sea as an ARC the last few days of 2015, but it was after I had already chosen my favorites for the year so I feel it deserves recognition in this list. The Inheritance Trilogy would probably be up next if I'd gone with top 5.

I realized as I was going through my December TBR and finding the specific books still needed for my year long challenges that I had never shared this completed challenge. This is a mostly YA Author A to Z challenge I participated in this year on Goodreads. 📚

I listened to and loved both of these books! Miep Gies's story is a wonderful complement to Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl, and there have been so many great reviews of Lab Girl recently. Both of them are well worth your time.
