1) I always decorate, even the years I lived in a tenement with neither room nor money for a tree. I made a flat tree out of cardboard scraps, cheap paint, & takeout containers.

2) Although I'm not Christian now, I still have a love for nativity scenes. We somehow have 7 of them!

3) Oldies are the best, traditional carols and classical. But I do have a soft spot for Willie's song “Pretty Paper“ about a street person.

OK, so this is sorta kinda book-related, and in this time of recognizing stellar small businesses it is definitely relevant.

This was a nice, light read. It would be great at Christmas. I wouldnt recommend it for anyone younger than teenage years. This was easy to read and made me feel like Id sat with the author and listened to him tell it.

Willie mixes fiction and truth to tell the story behind his famous song. It left me wondering how much of it is true. Not what I was expecting when I picked it up, but I enjoyed it.

Read this for a bookclub near Ft. Worth.

This was like hot chocolate by a cozy fireplace: heartwarming + sweet. I'm not sure how much Willie wrote himself although the narrative does employ his easy, conversational tone. The book-within-a-book structure helps tell Vernon Clay's story, which is a tearjerker in certain parts. I've read that parts of this story are based on truth which is cool. I think fans of seasonal reads + music lovers may enjoy this✌🏻️
