This was a super satisfying Sherlock Holmes riff. Holmes and Watson face off against Jack the Ripper. It was well researched and the tone between Watson and Holmes was just right. I loved it!

I adored this book, Holmes is hounded by a journalist who thinks he is the ripper.
I listened to the audio. I‘m not sure if it was more the audio I wasn‘t a fan of, or if I just don‘t like Sherlock Holmes books (written by Conan Doyle OR by others). The audio didn‘t help, anyway. I lost interest way too much. There were times here and there that I was paying attention; I think it depended what else I was doing at the time. In any case, I wasn‘t a fan, though there were parts that were ok.
This retelling of the Ripper Murders investigated by Sherlock Holmes is quite good. Mood setting was spot on, dry wit was engaging, disturbing description abounds. And I must confess, picturing in my mind Benedict Cumberbatch for hours on end put this girl in a happy mood. 😬 4/5 ⭐️

Huh...I feel like this was an alright mystery but it struggles the same way all Sherlock adaptations do: the characters written are not Sherlock and Watson. They don't have any of their notorious character traits or personalities which really threw me off.
Really curious about this. Love Sherlock Holmes and love Lyndsay Faye and obsessed with Jack the Ripper
I am a bit of a Sherlock Holmes junkie. I streamed this on audible. It was really satisfying. The voices of Holmes and Watson ring true, and it was an entertaining take on the Ripper murders.

@JenlovesJT47 I loved my goodies!! I‘ve been wanting both of these books and you nailed my love of socks!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Special thanks to @Beckykearns for putting this swap together!! #ConanDoyleSwap
Lyndsay Faye braves the legendary waters of both Ripper and Holmes with her imaginative work. I love Mary Ann Monk, who proves a welcome addition to a testosterone-heavy cast of characters. She‘s elicits information and gains entry to places in a way that the men cannot. And she does it with considerable aplomb. Mary Ann reminds me of Faye‘s Jane Steele. Fun and strongly reminiscent of the Conan Doyle oeuvre!

This is a fictionalized account of the Ripper murders involving Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. It was expertly rendered and the way it was written fully embodied the characters. It's obvious Faye did her research. I felt like I was in a bit of a rut as I read this, and as such I didn't fully connect with it the way I wanted to. Still a great read though. #ripxii #tbrbingo

From my Audible wishlist... historical fiction by Lyndsay Faye about Jack the Ripper read by Simon Vance? Yes, please!
This was an incredibly well written book, narrated by literature's beloved character Dr. Watson. Lyndsay Faye takes us effortlessly into the heart of London on a terrifying hunt for the monster known as Jack the Ripper. Faye obviously did her research on the Ripper killings and has made Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's characters very much her own, which I cannot imagine would be an easy feat for most!

Reading with my girl this morning. She received her Imagination Library book yesterday and was ready to get started!
Wicked awesome library haul today 😍🙌💃
I'm fairly sure that Lindsay Faye can do no wrong at this point... the characters were spot on, and the plot itself was gritty and pitch-perfect. This was the Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper matchup that I've been waiting for!
I'm very picky about Holmes adaptations, but couldn't resist the enticements of Holmes and Jack the Ripper (I'm a ghoul) AND Faye's writing. It was everything I'd hoped it would be, from a credible Watson telling the story to accurate details of the Ripper murders interwoven with plausible detection and resolution.
This is a great book about Holmes and Watson investigating the Ripper killings. The author Lyndsay Faye also wrote the Gods of Gotham trilogy #shadows #feistyfeb
So much fun!
It's detective/mystery, only it's Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson investigating the Ripper killings!
Honestly you guys, you need this in your life!
It's was so thoroughly researched and it's amazingly written.
Lyndsay Faye has been a huge SH fan since she was a kid and we can tell that by the genius way she structured the story, and the dialogues are insanely good. I mean... It's just the best!
I'm gonna go get all her other books now
SO MUCH FUN
Sherlock Holmes + Watson + Ripper + Faye
Perfect combination!
Loved this mystery set in Victorian England about the "secret" role that Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson played in putting an end to the Jack the Ripper murders. The author writes it in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle which makes it even more fun to read.
