4 🌟. I enjoyed this one - a bit like Antonia Hodgson's series mixed with Fanny Hill.

Thanks for the tag @mommyincolor . Day 1 of 7 of posting my favourite covers without any explanation. Today I tag @wanderinglynn
I woke up around 2:15am, couldn‘t go back to sleep so I went searching for a book on CloudLibrary. The cover of this one snagged me and then the story caught me as well! EXPIRED BEFORE I COULD FINISH. I‘ll come back to it later.
Picked this book up because of the embroidery images on the cover but I am so looking forward to reading this!
What a cover! 😍😍 Adding to the neverending TBR. The blurb on the front from The Guardian says “Shades of Sarah Waters... irresistible”
Plot: “London, 1756. In Newgate prison, Tully Truegood awaits trial. Her fate hanging in the balance, she tells her life-story.”
Prurient, salacious... just delightful. Also, there‘s magic. Reminiscent of Michel Faber‘s Crimson Petal and the White, with a touch of paranormal.
86 ~ An Almond for a Parrot by Wray Delaney (Kindle edition📱) ~ Started: 27.08.17 ~ Finished: 29.08.17
Rating: 5/5📚
A bit of a random post but if @Annl or @Emiller are ever stuck for ideas for #litsypenpals, books set (but probably not written - I read enough of them at university!) in the 18th century are a good idea*.
The exception being Imogen Robertson as her book didn't grab me as much as Antonia Hodgson's (the book on the left)
* The 18th century for me is 1688-1830!!!
Review up at Goodreads, should be live on Amazon soon. Enjoyable historical romance with echoes of Moll Flanders.
