A new-to-me author I spotted on the library shelves. I had grabbed so many books though I didn't want to borrow another (yes somehow some self-restraint kicked in!) and especially since I hadn't heard of this book before. Have you read this?

"The capacity to organize is endless and that becomes cruel" from Smiling
Does that mean librarians are inherantly cruel? Anyone? ?
Books I checked out today after promising myself I was just going to the library to work #librarianproblems
Britta: "The other day I randomly stopped into a bookstore – I was looking for short stories, something light. I went on, enjoying my day and had lunch at Angelica Kitchen. The waiter asked if I knew the author, and told me she comes to the restaurant all the time, and that in fact, I was sitting in her seat. I felt like I was exactly in the right, reading the exactly right book. It made Leopoldine and her stories feel so close to me."
Ok Litsy!! My hubby has asked me to find a collection of short stories for him. I've picked this one out. Anyone read it? Any thoughts on this collection or any others? He's not a reader and thinks picking up a short story here and there could be his "gateway drug" to reading ? I'm open to all suggestions!!!
“In bed she wore an oversized T-shirt with palm trees on it. All I do is talk to myself, she thought. She wanted to believe that God was glowing inside her. But it seemed that where God might be, there was a batch of whispering goblins, taking turns convincing her of crazy things. The sea of devily voices occupied most periods of silence. They were like her family: menacing and enduring"
Brightening up my desk this early-Fall Thursday. So excited to read this one!
This was addictive most of the time, filled with sympathetic and charming characters to build up these highly imaginative worlds. I got a kick out of it, a kind of creative zap for the brain. Some of these stories I never wanted to end. 👌
"Cindy had left the hairdryer on the floor and one by one the cats were examining it like a spaceship had landed."
Ha, cracks me up. ?
Leopoldine Core's stories are stark and lonely and lovely. Devouring this gorgeous collection.
Rioter @Matilda should have applied the “one for you, one for me” gift buying rule because she now very much misses this adorable mouse bookmark she gifted away. Thankfully she still has this great short story collection.
Ah I love #funfridayphoto and picking a favorite bookmark is impossible BUT I just bought this one to give as a birthday gift and I love it so much I want to keep it. The tail is the bookmark, you guys! (Also really enjoying this short story collection)
On tap for the weekend. Excited to read these stories.
I feel really solid about my obsession with Leopoldine Core's writing. Thank you @penguinrandomhouse !!
Bookmail just in time for the weekend for the win.
