ANOTHER DNF!!! I had this one in audio. 23 hours of petty complaining and making mountains out of tiny mole-hills. He thinks he has mother issues? Pull up a chair buddy! I made it to CD #4 of 19. The end of the year is near and I cannot spend it suffering through a bad audiobook experience. 😣

All while reading this book I kept saying "Wow" out loud. Thats exactly what I said at the end. I really loved this perfect depiction of a dysfunctional family, dysfunctional people and the eventual lesson that most of us are out here just doing our best to make it. "Love is the medicine" as Theroux says. We all need to work towards loving hard and loving deep. "Shower the people you love with love." -James Taylor #lyrics ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

cathysaid @valeriegeary I just finished it last night. Conflicted is a good word. As for the prose itself, I enjoyed it. And the plot was original and engaging. The ending, though.... That's the part I'm having trouble processing. 7y

I enjoy reading well written book reviews. Stephen King' s review of Mother Land in the NYT expresses his mixed thoughts on this book. I appreciate that he gives no judgement as to whether or not someone should read it. But, instead relates his own reading experience.
