#Top21of21. Lots of good reading this year. Loved all these books (even Matrix by Lauren Groff 😮 ).My most MOST favourites are An Episode of Sparrows; Ducks, Newburyport; The Street; Wayward, and I Am I Am I Am. Oh, and The Cazalet Chronicles and all the titles in Laurence's Manawaka series.🙂
Thanks for the tag @Ruthiella @Centique @Nute @Graywacke And thanks @Cinfhen for getting it going!

Graywacke 🦆🦆 !! And Nora Ephron was a voice. Fun list. 2y
vivastory Wonderful list! I have Ducks on my TBR for next year 2y

Ruthiella I loved Ducks, Newburyport too! 🦆 🦆 2y
merelybookish @JamieArc I meant to tag you too! 🙂 2y
merelybookish @Graywacke Ephron is funny. And that's not easy! 2y
merelybookish @vivastory Thanks! Ducks is totally worth the effort! 2y
merelybookish @Ruthiella Reading Ducks is an experience! 2y
Megabooks I am is an all time fav of mine! 2y
LeahBergen I think I‘ll just cheat and add the Manawaka series to my list as one book 😆 2y
merelybookish @Megabooks It was so compelling! Like from the first encounter on! 2y
merelybookish @LeahBergen Haha, yes that was my intention too. Because they are all so good! 2y
Graywacke @merelybookish i think I deleted my adjective before I clicked “send”. ☺️. it was a positive one. She was a special voice - Nora Ephron. 2y
sarahbarnes Such a great list! So many of my favorites in here. ❤️ I‘m starting Wayward tonight! 2y
Liz_M 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆! 2y
merelybookish @sarahbarnes Thanks! Let me know what you think of Wayward! There are some flaws but I loved the main character. 2y
MaureenMc Fantastic list! 2y
merelybookish @Liz_M 😄 it's like being in a club! 2y
merelybookish @MaureenMc Thank you! Let's talk about Villy sometime! I feel like she got some redemption in the end, but I felt she was treated unfairly by the storyline. 2y
MaureenMc @merelybookish I 100% agree re: Villy! She did have a bit of a martyr complex, but it didn‘t seem fair how all of her family essentially abandoned her. 2y
Crazeedi I enjoyed cazelet chronicles! Nice list! 2y
merelybookish @MaureenMc Thank you! She was made out it be such a pill and it seemed cruel..and I didn't like what happened to Diana's character either. She was having an affair but she wasn't evil but then she married Edward and becomes a witch. I really did love the series but felt the treatment of some characters was bizarre. 2y
batsy A great list! You had a pretty wide-ranging reading year 🙌🏽 2y
Cinfhen What a marvelous list!! I‘ve taken the screenshot so I can study up on the books I‘m not familiar with!! Thanks so much for sharing and tagging me♥️ 2y
GatheringBooks I want to read them all! Thank you for the tag. 2y
MaureenMc @merelybookish I‘ve heard that there‘s quite a bit of autobiographical details included in Howard‘s fiction. I wonder if Villy‘s & Diana‘s arcs contain some of those? 🤔 2y
TheLudicReader I so admire you for reading Ducks, Newburyport. There‘s no part of me that wants to give it a go, but yay you. 2y
merelybookish @batsy Yes, in spite of not meeting my Goodreads challenge. 😜 2y
merelybookish @Cinfhen Thank you! And thanks again for keeping Litsy fun! 😘 2y
merelybookish @GatheringBooks Thanks! I look forward to your list! 2y
merelybookish @MaureenMc Interesting! Maybe I'll do some background reading. I did mean to look up reviews to see what others had said about it. 2y
merelybookish @TheLudicReader Haha. It is a commitment to read 🦆🦆 so I understand! And I meant to tag you. 🤦‍♀️Would love to see your Top 21. 🙂 2y
BarbaraBB That‘s some list you share here 😍 2y
HardcoverHearts What a phenomenal list!! So many of my favorites are here. 🙌🏻 2y
LitStephanie Thanks for the tag! What a great way to share our favorites to help each other find good books to try. 2y
merelybookish @HardcoverHearts Thank you! I remember you commenting when I was reading The Street. It's such an amazing novel! 2y
merelybookish @LitStephanie Yes, it's a quick way to build up your TBR! 😬 2y

An Abebooks delivery to warm my heart! I‘d been looking for The Greengage Summer and An Episode of Sparrows for a while - blame it on @merelybookish and @LeahBergen and then Justine was coming up on my TBR hit list and @ReadingEnvy reviews of the quartet were so good I thought I should start collecting them. These are all paperbacks but I‘m happy with the condition. (And a biography because who can resist a biography of a writer after all??)

Gogobooks ❤️ Rumer Godden. In this house of brede. The peacock summer, black narcissus was made into film w deborah kerr. Quite notable. 3y
Centique @Gogobooks I loved In this House of Brede too! I will have to read the others. She‘s so good 😍 3y
Gogobooks Peacock spring that is🤣 3y

erzascarletbookgasm Fabulous book mail!! Would love to read all these too! Enjoy! 3y
batsy Lovely haul. The Greengage Summer is one of my favourites. 3y
MaureenMc I loved In This House of Brede! Hoping to read more of Godden this year. 😊 3y
ReadingEnvy Oh good work - those Faber editions of the Durrell are much sought after. For a while that pbk boxed set was the only set, at least from what I understand. 3y
quirkyreader This was a major score. 3y
Ruthiella I love those editions of the Alexandria Quartet even though unlike Jenny I‘m less enamored with the content. 😀 3y
LeahBergen What a lovely book haul! Yes, The Greengage Summer was SO good. 💚 3y
merelybookish What a wonderful array of books! I am excited for you to read the Goddens. They are both wonderful! And I have copies of the Alexandria Quartet sitting unread my shelf. I'd be up for a buddy read sometime! 3y
Centique @merelybookish oh excellent! I will give you a shout out when I‘m getting close to reading Justine. 3y

A children's novel about making a garden could be dull, but not when the garden is in a broken, dingy street in post-WW 2 London, or when one of the gardeners is Lovejoy, a girl who prays to be 'cocky and independent', or when all the adults are neither villains nor saints but they do misunderstand and disappoint. This is a book about our human need for beauty and how our perspective shifts what and how we can see. Wonderful on so many levels!

readordierachel Sounds like a lovely read 3y
LeahBergen Nice review! 3y
merelybookish @readordierachel It was! I am finding a lot of comfort in children's lit these days. 3y

merelybookish @LeahBergen Thanks! I think it would be up your alley. It's from the NYRB children's series (older edition) and I find them to be such reliably good reads. 3y
batsy Lovely review! I have this and should probably get to it. It feels a bit like the children's version of 3y
merelybookish @batsy Oooh I will have to check that out! 3y
Centique Ohhhh this is on my TBR too, I love Godden so much! Have to get yo this 😍 3y

My purchases from a pleasant afternoon poking around Boulder's bookstores. I even managed to snap up a used copy of the February #NYRBbookclub selection.

batsy Score! #nyrbbookclub This is a lovely selection of books 😍 3y
erzascarletbookgasm What a lovely haul. I don‘t know Anita Loos but the cover is great. 3y

readordierachel Great haul! 3y
merelybookish @batsy @LeahBergen @readordierachel I was pretty happy with them! 3y
merelybookish @erzascarletbookgasm Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is better known as the movie version starring Marilyn Monroe. But it's considered an undersung American classic. 3y

#TimbitTunes Day 3: What strikes me the most about this tale is the audacity of Lovejoy to have a #ConstantCraving for beauty, to be happy & carefree. How dare this abandoned young ‘un to even want color, alyssum & African marigolds? Such impertinence. It shows the unlikely triumph of the neglected spirit to rise above mundane things & how disparate the realities are as brought about by huge class divide. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-ho
