Wicked is in theaters this weekend: a book that became a Broadway show that is now a movie. Are you excited?!
For #tuesdaytunes today, I'm sharing my favorite stage show adapted into a movie. Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rock musical about an East German singer who tells the story of her betrayal by a collaborator who used their work to gain fame for himself. Created by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask.

willaful I love Hedwig! Was lucky enough to John Cameron Mitchell in 2020 (right before lockdown.) 1mo
TieDyeDude @willaful I saw Mitchell in 2015 after he injured his knee (which he brilliantly worked into the story as getting Nancy-Kerrigan-ed by a Gnosis fan). I got to see Neil Patrick Harris in preview, as well! 1mo
InkedBookworm13 I love Hedwig. ❤️ It is stuck a good movie, I've never seen the show though. It's on my to do list. 1mo

It‘s nothing but clouds today: cold, wet, and with a high allergen count. But the Bradford Pears are blooming, along with tons of other things, so I don‘t mind having the sniffles.

I walked early today because now I‘m getting ready to go see Hedwig and the Angry Inch! I‘ve always wanted to see this musical live, I‘m super excited!

Leftcoastzen Bet you will have fun! Live performance is magical! 6y
Soubhiville HEDWIG WAS AMAZING! I had all the feels. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6y
saresmoore The Bradford pears are beautiful, but so smelly! 🤧 6y

#riotgrams 23. Pink - Where are my Hed-heads?!Typical man, don't own hardly anything pink. I do own almost everything related to this show, though! Absolutely brilliant. Often compared to Rocky Horror, though there's only a superficial resemblance, I highly recommend renting the movie. Then we can petition for a Blu-ray release. Then you can get the Broadway cast recording soundtrack starring Neil Patrick Harris.

MicheleinPhilly Did you see it with NPH? My sister saw it with Michael C. Hall and STILL gushes about it. But she has a thing for Dexter. ☺️ 7y
TieDyeDude @MicheleinPhilly I would have loved to see it with Hall. I saw NPH when it was in previews and with John Cameron Mitchell after he broke his leg. 7y

Saw this for the first time today. Blown away by the performance (Darren Criss & his legs are magnificent) and moved by the edgy narrative and Rock N' Roll songs. Perfect show for gritty SF. It was nothing that I expected it to be, but oh so much more. Ms. Hedwig is a captivating & empowering force, my heart continues to celebrate diversity, love, freedom, suffering, & resilience hours afterward.

Who else likes musicals? What are you favorites?

Godmotherx5 I saw Wicked three times. Ana Gasteyer nailed it. Cabaret is another favorite as is Chicago. 8y
Lindy Hedwig is one of my favourites. Loved Fun Home. 8y
KarenUK Love them... last New York trip I saw A Gentleman's guide to murder, which was amazing... and time before...Alan Cuming in Cabaret (Swoon!).... I'll also see Chicago at any opportunity! 8y
