I had this on my tbr for quite a long time. Completed this classic. The author has given it all to bring about the effect of death, love, friendship, virtues, families. It brought me to a realization about the past shared by the two neighbouring countries, the vast amount of bloodshed and vandalism.
Would recommend everyone to read it.

Historical fictions are something that I can never get enough of.

A story that took place during the times of partition of 1947. It has never been a good phase of history. Two nations were formed but after enmity, hatred and anger were sown into the hearts of the people for each other who lived together for centuries. The portrayal of characters has been done in beautiful way. Loved the book over all.

This was one book I couldn't put down. The saddest truth about Indo-Pak partition has been highlighted very vividly. The cruel and barbaric behavior of humans as a race has been portrayed although the real times may have been more gore n gruesome. Singh has a very compelling writing style which makes this story of love, brotherhood, sacrifice and cruelty A Must Read for coming generations.

A very gripping read. India gains freedom from the British, but gets divided while the loot goes straight to the people in uniform or sitting on chairs. A village trapped in the crosswalk finds itself torn between the system, the outlaws, religious conflicts and vengeance.

Another book done right.
Train to Pakistan was a beautiful book. The ending wasn't that great but it was still wonderful as a whole and I enjoyed reading about the small village a lot.
I loved the author's writing style. It was engaging and kept me going throughout.

After finishing up with 6 hours and 43 minutes of reading. I have another book done. 3 so far, for #24in48. I don't think I'll be able to complete this challenge.😂

Picking up my 3rd book for #24in48. The other two were quite short but interesting. Done almost 2 and a half hours as of now. Let's see how this one goes.🤭

I am glad I read this book, because I know it is considered a classic of Indian fiction. However, I felt like I missed something while reading. It could be my ignorance of the cultural issues faced by the people in the book. This is another time that I wish I was reading in a college class for support. I can say I hated all of the violent comments and acts directed at women. The go-to insult is to threaten to rape female family members.

It was a book which leaves the reader utterly thoughtful. It is a historical fiction set in India, Pakistan partition. The books gives a message silently but very effectively that we have to realise that we all are human being, and there is no glory in unnecessary killing and wanton destruction. Perhaps the society will relaise it at some point of time, somewhere, someday ... a religion of humanity ...

I just finished reading it. Just 114 pages, but there's so much in this book that it's difficult to review it in a few lines. I'm an Indian and I know about my country's Independence but this book shows the pain and suffering people went through just post Independence. Some details and descriptions are beautifully put by the writer. There's this one beautiful description of the monsoon season. Will make you ponder upon so many things.

Found this in my father's old collection of books. Khushwant Singh 😍📚📖

It was a complete let down. I had expected so much from this as it was touted as one of the best books of modern indian literature. It was waste of energy and time. Yes, writing style was good, but the plot was weak and struggling to come out of the pit. I didnt even understand why there was even the character called Iqbal. The plight and struggle of the people who underwent those wretched times, but he chose to make a hero out of it.

Can‘t keep my eyes open any more and I swear I have no idea what I‘ve read over the last 90 minutes. Headed to bed. Here‘s my total for the #readathon. Even worse than I originally anticipated. 😱

Finally starting my second book for the #readathon. I had to take a break for a Marvel movie marathon after I finished my first book. My heart still hurts, but I can't refuse to read anything else for a whole year while I wait for the sequel. This is short, so I'm hoping to finish it quickly. 😊

Partition between India and Pakistan and Khushwant Singh's portration on that, loved it. Must read. It is the story of year 1947, story of India-Pakistan division.

Great book, minus the irrelevant profanities.

Both sides killed. Both shot and stabbed and speared and clubbed. Both tortured. Both raped.
