For 3 years now, I've been sharing all the books that I've read and loved on #Litsy, so everyone else on here could read and love them too. Kind of like a modern-day librarian. But on here, there's no way to categories and catalogue stuff - something that I love doing, personally and professionally.

So I made an insta page, would love if you could check it out! ❣️

'Thoughts about it all goin' fast. They won't leave me alone sometimes, remind me of the man who sold my mother a complete set of encyclopaedias once when we couldn't afford a comic book. Thoughts that keep rappin' on the door and them come on in when you're too tired to keep them out, and once they're inside they just keep talkin' until you feel like buying something just so they'll leave.'

'Esther asked why people are sad. "That's simple," said the old man. "They are the prisoners of their personal history. Everyone believes that the main aim in life is to follow a plan. They never ask if the plan is theirs or if it was created by another person. They accumulate experiences, memories, things, other people's ideas, and it is more than they can cope with. And that is why they forget their dreams".'

Essential: Essays by The Minimalists | Joshua Fields Millburn, Ryan Nicodemus

I haven't read the book, but 5 minutes into the documentary of Joshua and Ryan, I knew I was doing something wrong. Surrounded by books I hadn't read for months, I knew I had gone from being a reader to a hoarder. And I did not like being the latter. 2 hours on, I knew what I had to do.

I have decided to sell/donate all 200 of my books this month.

After all books are better off when they're being read. :)

Also, it feels good.

Smangela This feels so brave to me ♥️♥️♥️♥️ 7y
RebL I‘ll have to watch that doc! 7y
minkyb Lovely and bold idea. 7y

Zelma I absolutely adore The Minimalists. Check out their podcast if you haven‘t already. Inspiring and meditative in a way. I also saw the documentary when it was being show in theaters and dragged a group of friends with me. 😋 7y

Heidi (Classic) | Johanna Spyri

Can't read anymore, need suggestions.

I have been a reader for a very long time. Since last year, I've read more than 50 books. But from the past one month or so, I haven't been able to read, at all. I've gone through a horrible breakup and right after my ex told me he got with a girl, I haven't been able to read anything or well concentrate.

So I need your help, please suggest books that are super interesting and that which I cannot put down.

Rudis Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire is just over 150 pages, and is one i couldn't put down. ❤️Hope it helps, and take your time with the reading slump! 7y
BookFreakOut @Rudis I second that, I read Every Heart A Doorway this weekend and cannot stop thinking about it! Short but packed full of story and character. 7y
ReadingEnvy I would also say that sometimes your brain needs a break. Watch trashy tv, etc. that said when I was going through hard times I found Ya fantasy and comic memoir to help a lot. The Gail Carriger novels are worth a shot even if they're not usually your thing. theyre so silly and ridiculous. 7y

Smangela Ugh! That's awful - Litsy is here for you! And you deserve better!! This is one I couldn't put down and helped me with a reading slump. 7y
MemoirsForMe Hang in there and hang with us. Litsy is such a supportive community. 🤗🌷Here's a book that often uplifts me: 7y
moranadatter That's rough! Sometimes changing formats helps me. Maybe binging on comics or audiobooks would help. This one is spectacular: 7y
Swati Thanks a lot for the suggestions guys. I haven't yet really gotten back to reading, even after trying. So I've stopped making a fuss about it. Maybe I just need to take a break and not make reading a chore that I have to finish. I have however, made a note of the books you all have shared and have added them to my list. Thank you so so much for reaching out, it means a lot. :) 7y
Swati @Rudis @BookFreakOut @ReadingEnvy @Smangela @UwannaPublishme @moranadatter Thanks guys, for all the suggestions. I didn't get round to even one. I kept making excuses, and well soon enough the excuses started making sense. Hence, I've decided to give away all my books, and go back to being the kid that waited every week to borrow just one extra book from the library. I read random books then, but at least I read. Thanks for your support. 7y
Smangela @Swati I think the library is a great plan. Just going in with nothing set and letting yourself get lost and find what feels right ♥️ I hope you‘re doing well 7y
Swati @Smangela I've been better. But that's just how life is. Hope you're well. :) 7y
MemoirsForMe The perfect book will find you. And hanging out in the library will help you smile again. Plus we'll be here supporting you too. Hope you're doing better. 🤗🙏🏻🌼 7y

Today, I decided to tell everyone about the book. None had actually asked.

So it went like, there's this girl, she takes smoke-breaks but she dosn't smoke, nd Life came to her nd sort of helped her out wth her life, which was mesy nd oh yea she got dumped 3 yrs before Life came into her life.

That's when I realised,

I didn't make sense.
The book made more sense on paper.
And
If my Life walked into my life, he'd clearly be very disappointed.😜
