Lovely book in which #Kindness is reciprocal for the young girl Alice and her elderly neighbor Miss Millie. Kindness begets kindness. Quite memorable

Alice is angry at having to move to Rainbow, Georgia—a too small, too hot, dried-up place she‘s sure will never feel like home. Then she gets put in charge of walking her elderly neighbor‘s dog. But Clarence won‘t budge without Miss Millie, so Alice and Miss Millie walk him together. Millie becomes Alice‘s confidant and substitute grandma. Very touching story in 1960s Southern US.

Sweet, heartfelt middlegrade read about an unexpected friendship between two very different people.

This was my audiobook while working today and it was very enjoyable.

i bought this middle grade novel purely based on the title - my kitty‘s name is Miss Millie ❤️. the novel was so sweet and lovely, just like my girl. set in the south in the 60s, it deals with race, tolerance, and acceptance in a beautiful tale of a displaced 10-year old and her 90+ neighbor, Miss Millie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Delightful audiobook and story with underlying themes of racial issues and families. Set in the summer of 1968 — a young girl is uprooted from Columbus, OH, to small-town Georgia so her mother can take care of her own elderly mother. A coming-of-age story perfect for adults and middle grade readers. Narrator Catherine Taber is amazing at her characterizations and augmenting the emotional impact of this book.
