This one is a bit of a stretch, but I love love love this cookbook! Full of simple, unpretentious recipes that use seasonal ingredients, it is a reliable go-to, all year. My understanding is that recipe contributions are largely from the Mennonite community. It includes lots of vegetarian recipes, some quite creative. Part of a series including "More-With-Less" and "Extending the Table". ?????❤?

drokka I have two of the other Simply cookbooks and they're some of my go-to books. Though, one of them has recipes from the 70s when people didn't worry so much about the amount of butter and sugar. Having said that, they don't include processed foods either. 7y

Blueberry I love this one too! I need to buy it because I borrow it every year from my library. It's from a series of cookbooks commissioned by the Mennonite Central Committee. There is a children's one also. 7y

drokka Absolutely! Completely easy to understand recipes, and never have I looked at anything from these books and feel like a step is missing or directions unclear. 7y

quirkyreader I remember when I came out. I was volunteering at a Mennonite charity and got to put up stock and this was one of the books the shop sold. 7y

CuriousG There is absolutely *nothing* that beats a Mennonite cookbook. I think I have at least 15 of them ranging from communities all over Canada and the U.S....although I learned more from seeing how food was such a central element in my family/community than any of the books can ever convey. My husband says he married me because it is practically guaranteed there will be pie at every event. 😅 7y
