Alright bookish friends. I need your insight and suggestions!!
I‘m trying to find books for my high schoolers to read independently. I‘m choosing a book for each grade level, so I can give some assessment to hold them accountable.
I‘m looking for a book with interest level grades 9-12, but reading level 6-8 (I teach in special ed.). Would be great if an audiobook existed, and I don‘t want books that‘ve been adapted to film.
Any ideas? 🤔

Homegoing: A novel
Readergrrl And Homegoing by Yaa Gyassi has been “favorited” by several students in the last few years! One young woman told me that it “changed her life” and she has had family members read it. She and her family emigrated from Ghana about 10 years ago and it was the first time she‘d read a book while in the US that was spoke to her so personally. 5y
Readergrrl I know both are more mature but I felt that the language wasn‘t inaccessible despite the topic. 5y
laur89 @Readergrrl These sound so important to cover. I almost want to save these as in-class novels so we can really dive into the topics. Thanks! 5y
