This book is exhausting in the best possible way, it is non-stop action. A crazy pandemic, genetically modified people, and an evil genius. Nothing more needs to be said.

Solid 4.75 ⭐
I was sucked right into the wonderfully dystopian gene-hacking world from the first page. (But seriously, clouds of gene-hacked pigeons? Say no more!)
Such an awesome start to a highly anticipated series that I've been wanting to read for ages! I absolutely loved the Sci-Fi, scientific and apocalyptic aspects to this book, the world building was absolutely amazing. I loved the romance, though the love triangle was predictable. I loved the plot twists, they were super unexpected and the overall plot was so original. The pacing was fast and a good blend of action and suspense. Ending was crazy!
The world was here before I was born, and it will keep spinning after I am dead. The universe is continuous; I am the anomaly. I am the thread that begins and ends, the flame that splatters out.
I am posting a book every day from my TBR collection.
Day 43

I think Wicket fell asleep trying to pick a book to read. It‘s okay, buddy. We all find that exhausting sometimes.
#WicketsWorld #dogsoflitsy #WhatToRead?
This was a fun YA post& pandemic novel. Heavy on the science and little gruesome in places. Perfect for me! I didn't even mind the obligatory love triangle that much. I didn't realize it was the first in a series (aren't they all) but the second book was available on Libby, so I let another couple of holds slide so that I could keep following this adventure.
@TheKidUpstairs is my buddy for #Isolationinteractions and she wanted to know what I am reading.
This Mortal Coil is a YA pandemic / apocalypse story with the typical "strong teenage girl lead character torn between two guys" that we all know and love.
The cover is pretty until you read the book and realize that is a person atomizing into a mist of blood that will drift on the wind to infect others.
I am a little past halfway and it's fun.
It's interesting, proper sci-fi book... Hoping to review this book soon...
Sometimes we need to do awful things to stop worse things from happening. You‘re still thinking in terms of right and wrong, but this is war, and the rules have changed.
I love a good post-outbreak story. And I didn't even mind the little love triangle in this, so that's a plus!
Probably my one and only finished book for the #24in48 - life really got in the way this weekend. This was a really fun read though! I‘m looking forward to getting my hands on book 2!
So this wasnt exactly what I was expecting but the concept of technology and medicine being so tightly interwoven is some Black Mirror shit that will now give me nightmares. The ending totally threw me for a loop. I always just assume the father giving warnings to his children against a corporation is ALWAYS a pure superhero without any flaws so the ending was a total PSYCH! The romance was also kinda adorable. Predictable but adorable.
Time for a medical sci-fi!
In an alternate world in which people have implanted tech in their bodies, a plague has swept the earth with resultant factions forming. Cat is a hacker who is trying to help release a new vaccine. I just loved this book and it‘s twists and turns, though it was marred by a major twist near the end that has too big a plot hole to ignore. I‘ll definitely be reading the next book.

I‘m only in chapter 2 and already thinking, “dang, Emily Suvada is clever!” This bodes well. 👍🏼
This Mortal Coil. I think he'd actually enjoy it. There's sci fi, fantasy, romance, near apocalypse, and zombie-like creatures. It's the whole package!
@MonthlyBookClub
I have something like a tradition of buying books from every place I visit. This is not my first book bought from Chester because this town is one of my favourite places for walks. Today the weather was great like yesterday (around 13 degrees) and with my fiancé took a trip to this town and walked around.
I achieved nearly 8k steps! #LitsyWalkers
Emily Suvada just unveiled the title for the final book in her “This Mortal Coil” trilogy! Can‘t wait to see what the cover looks like, and Lord knows that after the way book two ended, I‘m dying to find out what happens next. #ThisMortalCoil #TitleReveal #EmilySuvada #ThisViciousCure
I'm not one to reread books but I had to with this Mortal Coil before I read its sequel. I love this book but I forgot so many details. My favorite of 2017. Everyone should read it!
Rereading This Mortal Coil, and protecting my book with the amazing Book Hugger @LibrarianRyan created. ❤

4⭐️ It has taken me awhile to write this review. I had to let the book stew. I really enjoyed it, so please don‘t take my lateness as a slight. It‘s not. This was a fabulous fun adventure.
I can not do this review justice in short form, so if you interest the long one is found on GR and LT
Think a bit Venom meets Orphan Black, by way of Hal 9000, Outbreak, and the 100. Expect exploding bodies and crazy science
Thanks @IheartYA
Day 1 #adventrecommends
A fast paced, unique adventure. Superbly written with on point character development and world building. My favorite read from last year.
@emilyrose_x
The reason I don‘t like book sleeves is because they only protect the book while it‘s in the sleeve. My book hugger just saved my book from a tropical punch disaster. Hopefully the fruit punch washes out, but if not oh well.
By the way @julesG I need to send you one but I have snaps to see. Later tonight after I clean carpets I‘ll take a picture and you can pick one.
Ps. If you have. pies the Limit near you and never tried it do so soon.
Okay. I‘m hooked.
Hour 36 of #24in48 and 1019 out of 1440 mins to go!!
I‘m up to page 45 of This Mortal Coil and my god! This book is intense and a little messed up. Okay, a lot messed up. But I am hooked and so damn intrigued to see where this story goes!
Reading 2 amazing books at once! What are the chances?
Wait actually, make that 3 as I‘m rereading HP & Goblet of Fire too 😂😂
Hour 27 update of #24in48
I have been listening to Daughter of Smoke and Bone and am now up to 586 out of 1440 mins of reading time! I think I‘m going to continue listening to the audiobook and pick up a physical book later.
Also btw the Twitter poll voted that I will start This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada next!
Time for some #scifi :). Got a feeling this is going to be an awesome ride!
Wow. Wow. I‘m not sure what blows me away more about this book — the plot, or the world. This scientifically in-depth post-apocalyptic story is unlike anything I‘ve ever seen, with an exploding-people disease turning out to be — miraculously — the least of our worries. The plot hurtles towards an utterly mind-shattering conclusion at a fierce pace, with characters that dig into you, & a romance that is so much more than what it seems. ★★★★☆.
#currentlyreading | dystopian lit takes an *explosive* turn. Here for it! 🙌🏽

I really should be kept on a tight leash when it comes to book sales 🙄 Bottom two are from Book Outlet. The rest are from the warehouse sale I went to in Seattle. This is book haul 1 of 3 😁 more pictures to come. Really excited for Asylum! Already getting ready for Halloween reads 😈
YA dystopia - playing God, with DNA of course, has created a lethal virus. Cat's father found a cure, but he had to encrypt it, to protect it from the world ruling corporation that took over when the apocalypse hit. Cat is the only person who can decrypt the code. But she cannot get to the necessary lab without help. Cole, working for the large corporation, offers to help and protect Cat. Can she trust him?
The rest is pretty textbook YA dystopia
Sitting outside with my furry kids. It's very nice. My runny hay-fever nose is killing me though.
Was close to bail at 12% - another dystopia with techie stuff and an 'I am Legend' like disease - but it's getting interesting.
#NetGalleyDEChallenge
Poor me has to spend the next hour reading, because of a gap between appointments. I know you all pity me now. 👿
Reading the tagged book in German as part of the #NetGalleyDEChallenge
Loved this book about a plague that is spreading rapidly and kills everyone who breathes it, forcing people to live underground to stay safe. Catarina and her father live on the surface and are the only ones who can write the code that will develop the vaccine to save people. So many twists and turns and unexpected moments. Really explores what is means to be human/how we determine and maintain our humanity in the face of tragedy and evil. #YA
This is the book that managed to keep me out of a reading slump! It is SO good. It is dystopian, and YA, and sci-fi, and just so interesting! I‘m happy I just jumped into it instead of sticking with the other tons of books I‘m in the middle of reading 🙄😬😳 My reading habits keep changing. . . 🤷🏻♀️
#SoFarThisBookLivesUpToTheHype ♥️
Pic from yesterday as I was racing to the end and my Gipper was hanging out with me. 😻
It was fabulous! My earlier words stand: action-packed and morally ambiguous. It leaves you with a lot to think about and I can‘t wait for the sequel. I have one tiny quibble with the romance (hid under spoil tags below).
Also, I listened to most of it on audio and the narrator was pretty good but said ✉️-ed instead of enveloped and I lost respect. 🤷🏻♀️
Such a great book, loved it from start to finish and such a different and interesting storyline! 5/5
This book! 😱
Several Littens recommended it and I started it during my travels. Airport stress left me needing some post-apocalyptic fiction about someone else having way harder problems than mine. It is INTENSE. Action-packed and the moral ambiguity keeps racking up. I have a feeling this book is going to gut me, in a good way.
I had a good talk with myself last night 😏and whittled my library stack down to the books I will realistically read before they're due. 😁 Success! Hm.. somehow I managed to go heavy on the Sci Fi.... but I'm about 60 pages into the tagged book and I'm finding it intriguing. 📚
Emily Suvada is the debut author that I fell in love with last year, and her book ‘This Mortal Coil‘ is what did it. Emily used to be a data scientist and she brings her extreme smarts to this science-infused dystopian and action-filled novel, which is billed as YA, but it‘s so wildly inventive and complex, I think it appeals to a wider audience. The follow-up comes out in October (with another gorgeous cover) - I can‘t wait! 🙀#ItsGottaGoGiveaway

Congrats on your 100k litfluence and thanks for hosting this giveaway! I recommend This Mortal Coil because it's a great world to get sucked into. I felt like I was really there!
WOW! Thank you @Kendyl! You really have me pegged! Good books, sushi and whiskey 😍 so cool your husband's Aunt made that mug, it's my new favorite! Thank you for making my first swap so much fun! #dystopianblues @Mommamanzi
I admittedly had a tough time with you, I couldn't find much dirt on you between Goodreads and litsy 😂😂
Just checked out some library books yesterday. I started this and am loving it. 💕💕
