There were no charges. There was no trial. There will be no escape. Seventeen-year-old Becca Greenfield was snatched from her small hometown. She was thrown into a maximum-security prison and put on Death Row with other kids her age. Until her execution, Becca's told to fit in and shut her mouth... but Becca's never been very good at either. Her sister Cassie was always the perfect twin. Becca's only hope is that her twin sister will find her. That perfect little priss Cassie will stop following the rules and start breaking them, before it's too late. Because her jailers made a mistake that could get them both killed: They took the wrong twin. Crazy House is a non-stop, summer blockbuster by James Patterson, the #1 bestselling author of Maximum Ride, Witch and Wizard, and Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life.

This book was blurbed as "The Next Hunger Games"... something I never got into I decided as it was James Patterson to read it anyways the premise sounded good. Teenage girl kidnapped and placed into a prison like living situation where "inmates" are forced to fight each other. Whilst it wasn't quite the Patterson style thriller that I was expecting, it was more Dystopian in nature. It was still an interesting read. ⭐⭐⭐ #jamespatterson #crazyhouse

When you have a whole shelf dedicated to one author, and it‘s triple stacked. 😂

James Patterson is a fantastic writer, and I decided a while back that I wanted to get my hands on as many of his books as possible. As many of you guys know, I don‘t hold onto books once I‘ve read them, so these are all unread. Maybe I need to start a James Patterson bookclub 😂😂

ncayea Unread as you haven't read them? Omg, get reading!! 5y

Not my usual type of book, it's classified as sci-fi which is very sketchy.

Enjoyed it though and I was willing them on until the very end, which was a really good ending.
A very good idea for a story but abit weird at times.

I almost didn't read this because of the Hunger Games comparison. I'm glad I read it anyway. Heads up: There is some brutal violence for a YA book. I'm glad I read it anyway, but this is a "part one" type of book. There is a next book.

This was a so-so for me but if you love YA James Patterson you‘ll probably like this. This story was a combination of The Hunger Games, Divergent and Maze Runner but not as good as those.

Cassie & Becca are identical twins with very different attitudes about life. When Becca goes missing, Cassie's world is turned upside down as finding her sister means losing her perception of reality. This YA book will appeal to fans who like dystopian novels. It's reminiscent of the Hunger Games or Divergent series & the ending leaves plenty of room for sequels.

It‘s a “pick” but just barely. I haven‘t read anything from the Patterson fiction factory in years but there were few surprises. If you like James Patterson and YA then you‘re going to read this regardless of what I say. You know what to expect and you will be satisfied. Otherwise, there isn‘t much to see here. I simply can‘t resist a rebellious heroine.

tif It does seem to Bea bit of a factory doesn't it. I'm really not sure how I feel about it. 6y
Quasifesto @tif James Patterson is a “boy band” of an author. It‘s entertaining and it‘s fine if you like it. It makes money and has a target audience. It isn‘t art and it isn‘t trying to be. I‘m not really a fan, but I did read the first dozen Alex Cross books, so who am I to judge. 6y

When the cat is away ( @Crowcrumbs is visiting her mother) the mouse will visit new vegan restaurants... I may have paraphrased. Vegan California club, white bean soup, and water while I finish up the tagged ebook. Before going BOOK shopping for the nonfiction swap!

Readerann Oh my, that sandwich looks good! 😋 6y
Quasifesto The sandwich was fantastic! The soup was meh... too watery and too salty. I‘m a harsher food critic than I am a book critic. 6y
SandyW I'm a harsher food critic as well, I can cook, but I have never be able to write a book! 6y
See All 9 Comments
Quasifesto @SandyW Exactly! I‘m a damn good cook, so I show no mercy to restaurants. my few weak attempts at writing a book have made me sympathetic to authors. 6y
VeganCleopatra That sandwich looks so good, but I'm weak for avocado so... What was in it exactly? (edited) 6y
Quasifesto @VeganCleopatra Ezekiel bread, veganaise, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, smoked tempeh, tofurky slices, and some vegan cheese of some sort. It was very good, but there is a better vegan club at a nearby place, so I‘m not certain I will order it again. 6y
VeganCleopatra I've never been keen on tofurky slices myself. Vegan food is so hit or miss unless you make it yourself, I think it just adds to people thinking vegan food = crappy. 😞 6y
Quasifesto I have been a vegetarian for 25 years. These days, I cook 90% of our meals from scratch, at home. The majority of those meals are Vegan. I like to refer to myself as veganish. I‘m just happy that convenient options are becoming available to the reluctant masses. @VeganCleopatra 6y
VeganCleopatra Yes it is definitely nice that items are becoming more available. Yeah I enjoy cooking and usually prefer my own food anyway. I've been vegan 11 years and veg awhile before that. Congrats on 25 years. 6y

3.5⭐️ As usual Patterson writes a quick story with short chapters. They alternate between various characters, mostly Cassie and Becca. The tagline of the cover says the next Hunger Games, and while I see a little Hunger Games, I see other stories more. It is a derivative novel. It wants to be a mash up of The Maze Runner and Divergent. It does work, but it has been done better.

The book is what got me out of a bad reading slump. I needed something that wasn't too long and an easy read. It was both. I liked it and I love the cover.

Laalaleighh So like, do we think he writes all his novels? How does he have time to live? (edited) 7y
alleyfam51699 Lol. I saw a great story on Sunday Morning about him and how he writes. It's really good. He has lots of help writing. I think he said he does an outline of his idea and then someone else writes the story sometimes. It has been a long time since I've seen the video so I've forgotten some of what he said. @Laalaleighh (edited) 7y
tpixie @Laalaleighh as @alleyfam51699 I think he still writes the Alex Cross books. This is my theory on how and why he has associate writers. 1. he's in his second ( or not first) marriage and wants to have more time with his child. ( also he started writing kids books because his son did not like to read or had trouble reading so he's trying to encourage childhood literacy). 2. He used to be a marketing/add guy. 7y
tpixie @Laalaleighh 2. Continued. So he probably has so many ideas for books and doesn't have time to write them, so he does the outline has other people write them and he edits and re-edits. ( do I like it? I don't know, but he seems to be getting away with it, so more power to him. At least he does put the authors' names on the cover and isn't lying about it. But it has pretty much made me pretty much stick with the Alex Cross series. 7y

I was exhausted, filthy, starving, cold, and afraid. But as I looked up at the wide-open sky just starting to lighten with the promise of a new day, I knew I‘d never been so happy. A couple of dragon flies zipped by overhead, as if relieved to be free also. “ thanks,” I whispered to them.
