What a horrifyingly intriguing concept! I picked up this book solely on the cover/title alone and had no idea what it was going to be about, but wow! I'll for sure be reading the two others that come next in this series because I have to see how it ends.

Had an amazing time in Toronto ☺️. Got to see Niagara Falls, dined in the CN Tower, went to Centre Island and got to go to Chinatown. So happy to have the much needed vacation 🛬

@BookDragonNotWorm OMG! I loved it so much! It had enough twists and turns and it was totally unique. I loved it! Also, I had an inkling about the ending but... it still kept me surprised to the very end! I am so looking forward to the other 2 (also bought this one so I can revisit it in the future)

Looking for some suggestions for great modern american murder mysteries! Anyone read anything worthwhile lately?

One of the reviewers said it‘s like ‘Hunger Games meets The Purge‘. It starts with a teen who was coerced into pleading guilty for something she didn‘t do. Now she is trapped on an island hoping to survive long enough for them to find the real killer. In the meantime she needs to outsmart notorious assassins & has many home viewers. Can she turn the tables?

O M G 😳 This book... Definitely worth the read! Very suspenseful, held my interest all the way through to the end.

January Wrap-up 📚

What a coincidence the first 3 books I read this year would all be centered on the topic of murder cases and the death penalty. Two were actual accounts, while the third was a fictional imagining, but I enjoyed each of them for different reasons.

This was a pretty good start, given the few time constraints I had this month, and I can‘t wait to get started on this next group of reads!

This book was crazy. And as much as I enjoyed it—-I couldn‘t help but think that it isn‘t too much of a stretch to think that this could eventually happen....

This YA book includes gory deaths and a high body count. I loved it. I finished the last 2/3 in one go. Convicted felons are sent to Alcatraz 2.0 where everyone can watch them on The Postman app. Sanctioned killers are sent to the island to hunt them down and the world is alerted to watch the executions live on the app. Dee is innocent, but will she be able to survive Alcatraz 2.0 and prove her innocence. #Booked2019 #socialmediafocus

I really, really, really LOVED this book! I'm not quite sure why, but apparently I had a reading itch that it perfectly scratched. I thought the premise was great and enjoyed the execution. So much fun! Even if you don't like YA books, if you're looking for a good #Spooktober read, this could be it!

This book was really entertaining and had a really cool concept. Slight jabs at our political climate and a unique plot made this book different and hard to put down. I thought the twists were really good and I enjoyed the ending. The story is based around a penal code that isolated criminals to an island where they are murdered by serial killers and it is broadcasted on a live stream. Hard to put down and very entertaining!

I got inspired last night and made myself a Mediterranean (chickpea) pasta salad for lunch this weekend. It figures that the day I have a meal to look forward to is the day lunch is so late, but I get to start this new book that I've really been looking forward to, so yay!

THIS pick was a definite #blameitonlitsy ! Really different than anything else I read so I‘m looking forward to giving it a go.

This was such a fun book! So glad that I'm picking up the sequel immediately, cause that was a blast!

This is a hella unique read in the YA field. Someone in this book refers to the cast as Death Row Breakfast Club which is so freaking accurate! The idea of being stuck in this setting having to booby trap your home knowing you have pretty high odds of being kidnapped and murdered every night...the biggest of hell nos. I can feel my anxiety spiking. Great cast, tons of mystery and twists. Dark as hell. So here for the companion.

If the tag line of "Kill. Post. Repeat." doesn't peak your interest not does "Fifty million people are about to watch me die...." than we are STARTLINGLY different people.

I actually really liked this one. It had a young adult, The Running Man feel. A quick read that kept my attention and had me turning pages quickly. It definitely had some gore and I appreciated how much the author pushed the limits. I'm looking forward to reading the second book.

This is one of the most twisted and messed up books that I have ever read. But I am so hooked and can't put it down. Glad that I have a cute reading buddy tonight!

Not for me. The story was fast-paced, which I enjoyed, and the premise is interesting. However, the positives pretty much end there. I couldn‘t relate to the MC because she just didn‘t seem like a real person. None of the characters do. It all seemed so unrealistic and forced. Writing is choppy and jarring. It just didn‘t do it for me.

Had a very hard time with this book. Kind of boring. Not that great. Did not live up to the hype.

I enjoyed this quite a bit, sort of modern version of The Running Man but with teenagers. Alcatraz Island has been remodeled into a new fangled prison colony where the country has made celebrities of a group of killers that have unique methods of dispensing Justice. There is a conspiracy and there is bloodshed, but pretty tame as this book is YA.

1. Ground caffeinated coffee. Chocolate and French vanilla flavors only
2. That I get to spend it with my love.
3. I don't particularly like bookish items except books
4. Pumpkin and vanilla are preferred scents.
5. Sugar free candy. chocolate

My dec stats seem low but that‘s because I delved into chapter books and left the picture books at work.

I completed my GR challenge. Part of that was to read this 580 book list of picture books. I only got about 150 of those read because of a project at work that had all these amazing classics coming in. So I set this years GR goal the same as last year. Maybe this year I will get those read.

This bloody fun read is like someone took The Running Man, added social media, and threw in Alcatraz.

Overall, this book just works. Yes it would be considered horror, and there will probably be someone yelling “trigger warning”, but to me it was just fun. I don‘t see it as strait horror, but horror comedy that gets more insane and creative as you turn the pages.
