First in the Chef-To-Go mystery series. The setting is promising but there‘re quibbles I couldn‘t get past me..repetitive remarks by the characters (the love interest of the mc kept referring her to Little Miss Cupcake & her heart shaped ass); flimsy plot; unsatisfying romance; no recipes included, considering the mc is a chef/caterer & there were frequent descriptions of the food she prepared. To each his own, not for me, though.

Librarybelle I listened to this one and liked it, but did not realize the print version did not include recipes. That‘s a shame! 4y
ferskner I read this last year and liked it enough to keep going with the series, but I'd agree that it's not my favorite cozy. 4y

Finished this one off late last night. It was far from great, but I still enjoyed it. 💚 2 points for theme, 1 for the post! #TeamSlaughter

MidnightBookGirl The title alone is pretty cool! 5y

Hooked_on_books I don‘t read many cozies, but I just love their names! This one makes me 😆 5y

I have a bunch of things going on today, so I'm grateful for a quiet hour to fit in my #24in48 and #cozyinthesun reading, and I'm especially grateful for this insane chicken biryani. @24in48

@wanderinglynn I'm doing pretty well with my calorie and activity goals, but wow, I'm still struggling so much with my sleep goals! Which is precisely why I made them a goal. Someday I will get enough sleep! 8/12 books read. #bfcr2 #bookfitnesschallenge

britt_brooke That looks so good!! 5y
wanderinglynn I‘m glad you were able to carve out some quiet time. 👍🏻 So what is standing in between you and your sleep goal? What can we do to help you reach your goal? 5y
Redwritinghood I love chicken biryani so much, but need a low carb version. Tried it with cauliflower rice and it‘s just not the same. 5y
ferskner @Redwritinghood ugh I know! I save the real thing for a special treat. 5y

This is different from a traditional cozy - language and at times subject matter made this what I call meatier. But, same elements - amateur sleuth, and this one featured lots and lots of food. I loved the narration and have immediately jumped into book two! #cozyinthesun

crazyspine Haha cute title 5y
mabell I haven‘t read any of these. Sounds fun! 5y
ferskner I haven't been able to touch this while I get some non-cozies finished and I'm eager to jump back in! 5y
BethM I‘ll have to add this to my list. I‘ve met the author and she‘s lovely. 5y

I‘m kicking off #CozyInTheSun with an audiobook for my drive home. This is the first in the Chef To Go mystery series.

ferskner OH MY GOSH THAT'S WHAT I STARTED WITH TOO. This is starting to freak me out! 😂 5y
Librarybelle @ferskner 😂 That is so hilarious! 5y
BethM I‘ll be interested to see what you think! I always waffle on whether or not to start this series. 5y
Librarybelle @BethM So far, I‘m liking it. The main character at first sounded pretty weak - listening to what her father always told her to do - until she realized she could follow her own dreams. We‘ll see how that goes... The narrator is great on audio! 5y

I like when the main character Miss Marples themselves into the middle of murder mysteries. (AKA the Rosemary & Thyme Effect)

But, this was like eating a lot of cotton candy all at once. None of the storylines (suspect for murder, dick exboyfriend, or dirty cop) felt actually threatening.

The tone would switch to a more romance novel style. I don't mind that, if I was expecting it. But it seemed mostly limited to Spencer's chapters. 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑
