Roadtrip for the worst reason. We've been driving since 4 this morning (it's currently almost noon) bc my father-in-law is dying in a hospital near Richmond, VA. We are from the St Louis, MO area, so we're only about halfway there. Normally I love the rain, but it's bumming me out today. I can't help but thinking of this as a book plot, although so far it would make a pretty boring and depressing book! 🤷

1. I like a good road trip in a car so I can entertain my husband with my singing 😂
2. Our favorite vacation to date has been Alaska! It should be on everyone‘s bucket list!
3. Girls weekend to West Palm Beach...trip to Colorado for me while hubby goes to Haiti...need to plan something for us later in the year

Ok my fellow Littens, I need help. A friend and I are creating bucket lists for a potential roadtrip. My friend Tara is making a list of football stadiums and I'm making a list of bookstores/libraries that are must sees. We're going to see what matches up and go from there. Any suggestions for bookstores/libraries??? Thanks! 😀

RanaElizabeth Is this a national road trip? I've got suggestions for both coasts! 7y
valeriegeary If you end up in Portland OR, Powell's is a must! 7y
EvieBee Recycled Books in Denton, TX is awesome!! North of Dallas. 7y

Megabooks I like the Elliott Bay Book Co in Seattle. Also, I'll always regret not going to Parnassus Books in Nashville! 7y
RanaElizabeth I'm a huge fan of the Central Library in Philly. Pennsylvania also has a big number of the original Carnegie Libraries too. 7y
Yeah_I_Read Boston Public Library 7y
LibrarianRyan Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver. The down town branch on 16th is the original, but they also have 2 others. They are always having author signings, and events. 7y
Ruri_kaichou I second Tattered Cover, @LibrarianRyan ! There's also the BookBar and Second Star To The Right (a children's bookstore, baby to YA). The awesome part is these two are walking distance from each other! 7y
ValerieAndBooks Detroit -- John K King bookstore! And maybe a side trip to Ann Arbor (home to University of Michigan)-- lots of bookstores there! 7y
TheKidUpstairs E Shaver Bookseller in Savannah, GA. Beautiful place to lose yourself in the stacks. And with a tea shop attached! 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Parnassus Books (owned by Ann Patchett) in Nashville. Malaprops in Asheville. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @TheKidUpstairs Oooh. Thanks! We'll be in Hilton Head later this year. 7y
LibrarianRyan @Ruri_kaichou plus, the Bookies. Speciality children's store. I lived across the street and never went until the day of the Stupud Smelly Bus. I always through it was a betting place. And it was before I was a children's librarian. I would soon learn the importance of 7y
catsuit_mango Uncle Hugo science fiction bookstore in Minneapolis, it is also a crime, thriller bookstore. 7y
jpmcwisemorgan @catsuit_mango I think that went to the head of any bucket list I might have or will have in the future! 7y
jpmcwisemorgan @TheKidUpstairs Thanks! I'm going to have the best list. 7y
jpmcwisemorgan @RanaElizabeth We don't know yet but most of the football stadiums my friend wants to see are east of the Mississippi. That doesn't mean we won't go west at some point! 7y
jpmcwisemorgan @valeriegeary I've been to Powell's. I bought so many books they had to ship them to me. I'd return in a heartbeat. 7y
jpmcwisemorgan @EvieBeeReads Oh, we could do that one on a mini road trip because we're in Austin. Woo hoo! 7y
catsuit_mango Maybe, just maybe we could have a list of all the trip worthy bookstores., anywhere in the world ;) 7y
BkClubCare Scuppernong's in Greensboro NC (and many in the Raleigh Durham area), Somethin's Brewin' Book Cafe in Lakeville MA 7y
